And on Nelson he's 2nd tier. Do you honestly rank him among CP3, Deron Williams, Steve Nash, Rondo, Rose? I don't see how. The team made the Finals last year without him, and while he makes his team better he doesn't do it to the extent that the Elite PG's do. Are you saying that Nelson has HOF potential? He averaged less than 6 APG this year and only averaged 13 points. In the playoffs he's up to 23 PPG, but only 5 APG through 5 games.

He's not exactly in their class. Like I said 2nd tier. Nelson compares better to Jason Kidd (the current one), Mo Williams, and Baron Davis, none of which have been considered truly elite PGs of late. He doesn't even statistically match up with Russell Westbrook, who is still learning the postion and the game. C'mon man 5.4 assist per game is pathetic for a PG when compared to the Elite players in the NBA. Nelson wasn't even top 20 in APG this year.

I would guess you have a difference of opinion with most regarding Nelson. I wouldn't imagine many people would consider a guy who averaged about 28 minutes per game, 12.6 points and 5.4 assists as a top tier PG. I don't.

 

And, I still disagree with Cats. The Lakers may have won in 5, but they won game 2 in OT after Courtney Lee missed a layup on an inbound lob that could have won the game, and then game 4 in OT after erasing a double digit half time deficit with a monster third quarter.

 

I don't put much stock in the last game, because once the Magic went down 3-1, they weren't coming back. They got trounced in the opener, but in the three middle games, when they still had a shot, they won one and lost twice in OT. I say they competed. They just couldn't make the plays down the stretch to get the W's.

They're both tall.

 

Lewis is a better scorer, and he's specifically superior from the perimeter. Odom is a better inside player, a better ball-handler, and a better playmaker with regards to setting his teammates up. I don't think their games are all that similar.

 

I don't see one guy as clearly better than the other, but I do see them as different players.

 

The difference to me is that Odom is way more versatile. He's not the long range sniper that Lewis is, but he can play inside and out. Lewis always has to play a finesse game, Odom can play either. Lewis is probably a better scorer, but that has to be somewhat out of necessity. To my eyes, they are two of the better "stretch 4's" in the game, but Odom has to get the edge IMO because he can do alot more.

Look at the minutes played...Steve Nash playes 32.8 minutes per game and he's the lowest of the top level guys. If a coach has a top tier guy, he's not going to be under 30 minutes a game. In fact, only Nash and Billups are under 36 per game. Russell Westbrook is at 34.3, FWIW.

It's a good point. I just view it differently. Regardless of the final outcome, Orlando could have easily been up 3-1 going into game 5 had they been able to make the necessary plays late in games.

 

It was similar to LA and Denver in the conference finals. The Lakers won in 6, but they played some tough games.

 

On the other hand, the Rockets pushed LA to 7...or should I say the Lakers allowed it, because every time LA decided to show up, the games weren't close. So, a 7-game series looks competitive, but was it really? when the Lakers blew them out in the 4 games they wanted to play?

Up 2-0 against their nemesis, long way to go, but couldn't have asked for a better start to the series.

Suns just look too fast for the Spurs. They seem much deeper on the bench as well. I would really like to see Nash get to the championship (and in a perfect world get beat by the Cavs:lol:), especially since so many were quick to write him off at the beginning of the season.

You think Nelson is the key to the treasure chest? He is OK and both lakers bench guards will be able to hang with him.

Lewis is much more consistent, I will have to agree. Talent-wise it's no contest though IMO.

Sure that'll be a mismatch, but no where close to the one the Lakers are going to be dealing with when Fisher tries to guard Nelson.

 

As far as Howard getting in foul trouble, well duh that would create a Laker advantage. Just like Kobe, or Gasol in foul trouble would create a Magic advantage. Not sure what your point with that is....:confused:
