Top Teams in 4A

Featured Replies

I am going with.....

1. Lone Oak

2. Bell County

3. Boyle County

4. Lexington Catholic

5.-??? Everyone else

Your 4A champ will be one of those top 4 teams.

I like Boyle County's chances to repeat, obviously, and you can call me a homer and you'd be correct. I expect Boyle County and Bell County to meet up at Log Mountain the day after Thanksgiving for the right to play Lone Oak in Bowling Green. If that game happens, I expect another nail biting classic game.

I think Lone Oak will play with a chip on their shoulder all year and with a tougher schedule this year they look to be even more battle tested by the time the State Finals roll around. I am sure they would love a rematch in the State Finals against Boyle County. Hopefully we can accomodate them.

Lexington Catholic will be tough as always and if they win the regular season matchup against Boyle County they will secure home field advantage in the playoffs over Boyle and Boyle will have to play at LexCath in the playoffs with the winner of that game traveling to Log Mountain the day after Thanksgiving. Nothing is set in stone for Boyle to meet Bell County. Boyle County must defeat Lexngton Catholic first in the regular season and we all know that regardless of the turnover at LexCath, they are always very tough to defeat.

Sounds about right!!!Hopefully!!!

Good top 4 to me. I think Bell County will be state champions this year. Hopefully I'm wrong but I just have that feeling. Don't try to persuade me anyone. I'm sticking with it whether you like it not! :thumb:

1 Boyle Co

2 Bell County

3 Lone Oak

4 Lex Cath

5 Could be anybody.............

Boyle is the clear cut favorite they are the champs until someone beats them.

I also agree that Boyle, Bell, Lexington Catholic, and Lone Oak are the top 4 teams, and Marion County making a push to join them. I was really impressed with Lone Oak's play last year and if they can continue to pass the ball like they have with a new QB. Watch out!

I know and that is scary.

Didn't LexCath lose a ton to graduation this past year? Not saying they are not a top 4 team, but losing (I believe) top 2 qb's, #1 and #2 rushers, plus your primary reciever, can make it tough to compete at the same level as they did.

I agree with Commander. LexCath is proven enough to never take lightly regardless of who they lost. I don't think they will be better than Boyle County this year but the regular season game is at LexCath and that is always a winnable game for Catholic and trust me when I say that Boyle County does not want to travel to LexCath in the playoffs. We all know LexCath is going to bring it as well as get better every game throughout the season.

Well said. Lexington Catholic is a contender every year.

You had better not count them out if you do you could be at the house watching someone else play for the title.

Don't forget about Covington Holmes.

I believe they return 15 of 22 starters from last year's 9-3 team that lost to Lexcath in the second round of the playoffs.

Included in those returnees are their starting Qb from this year, their top 3 rushers, top 3 receivers, top 3 db's, and all 3 lb's from last year.

I believe Boyle Co. is the favorite. They won the title game and beat the 3 other best teams in 4A IMO to do it. Bell lost some key players, but I'm confident will be one of the top teams this year.

I saw the Catholic - Holmes game and Holmes was had a lot of team speed and they should be mentioned as a top 5 team. They will be good this year!

Holmes will have to prove themselves this season to me if they are going to be in the top year in and year out. How many consecutive winning seasons have the had. Nothing against them just don't think that they have proved themselves yet? IMO
