April 10, 201016 yr :banana:ESPN say no charges will be filed... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5071769 No surprise here probably not enough to go on is what the DA will say. I think the first girl was gold digging, but I think something happened here. Too what nature I don't know. Big Big is on strike 2 now, he better walk a straight line.

April 10, 201016 yr I agree with all of your points. Ben needs to date someone that has her own money and fame. Not necessarily that. Ben just needs to quit putting himself in stupid situations.
April 10, 201016 yr Author Not necessarily that. Ben just needs to quit putting himself in stupid situations. Amen.
April 10, 201016 yr Not necessarily that. Ben just needs to quit putting himself in stupid situations. I can only hope... :idunno:

April 12, 201016 yr The conventional wisdom seems to be that there will be no charges filed and that there will be no suspension from Roger Goodell. Still speculation, though.
April 12, 201016 yr The conventional wisdom seems to be that there will be no charges filed and that there will be no suspension from Roger Goodell. Still speculation, though. I still think Goodell has enough justification to suspend Big Ben a game. Whether he does or not is another question.
April 12, 201016 yr I still think Goodell has enough justification to suspend Big Ben a game. Whether he does or not is another question. I think you're right.
April 12, 201016 yr Author I still think Goodell has enough justification to suspend Big Ben a game. Whether he does or not is another question. No he doesn't. If no charges were filed, what justification is there for suspension?
April 12, 201016 yr No he doesn't. If no charges were filed, what justification is there for suspension? Where in Goodell's code of ethics book does it state that charges must be filed in order for him to authorize a suspension? He can simply point to the NFL's code of conduct book and suspend him. Do not forget that Ben is also caught up in another civil lawsuit with the Nevada girl and I assume the same is about to happen in this situation. To put it simply, he can suspend him for continuously being an idiot and putting himself in these situations.

Please point to a similar situation where there were no charges filed against a player that he was suspended.

Just like there was no precedent for suspending a guy for an entire year despite being convicted of nothing... see Pac Man Jones. Or handing out suspensions before the legal process even ensues.

April 12, 201016 yr So, you're comparing a bar fight which involved a shooting to Ben's case. Okay. If this was the first incident of this kind with Ben, I'd agree with you. It's multiple times now. I think he needs to be shown this kind of behavior and attention is something the league won't tolerate. I'd be okay with counseling of some sort, but wouldn't think a 1 game suspension is out of the question either.
