Just stunning. Talk about a grade A nut job. Phelps is just insane. May God have mercy on his soul because what he is doing here cannot be God's will. I won't claim to know the mind of God, ... but I have feeling my understanding is closer than this guy's.
April 9, 201016 yr They have no idea what they are getting themselves into. They are going into the wrong part of the country to try and deliver their insane message. I'm not kidding when I say we could see some more deaths if they go through with their threat.
April 9, 201016 yr They should be wearing body armor in that state. All of those cats have large caliber rifles, and they all can shoot them well, and I mean the chicks too. One fella yesterday made it clear that they needed to take their rearends (not his exact words, however) back to where they came from or else. I can see one of them being pierced soon. Same reason you won't see Obama making many speeches in the great state of WV.

I'm not kidding when I say we could see some more deaths if they go through with their threat. I lived in Charleston for 5 years. I got to know the people very well. You nailed it. When you go south of Charleston where this mine is located, you get into an area with some of the nicest people I have ever met. However, many of them will not hesitate to send these nutjobs on their way to meet their maker if they follow thru with their picketing. Any group that has a sign stating 'God hates you' has completely missed the message.
April 9, 201016 yr I have very strong Christian views and beliefs, but it is the hypocrisy of some Christian religion that keeps non Christians away. How a whole church can think this is actually things God would want them to do is beyond me. They may feel that way, but it would be a lot better if they just kept it to themselves. I am not in a position to judge anyone, but it just seems as if they are only hurting their cause opposed to helping it. There is no sense for things like this in today's society, but it is prevalent all over. If one can look at the world and not worry about the shape it is in then something is wrong.

For anyone that doesn't know, Pike County borders Virginia on its south eastern side (the side I live) and West Virginia on the north eastern side. My house is like five minutes from the Virginia line, and it would only take me like 30-40 minutes to make it to West Virginia. My father is actually from Virgina, and moved back there after my parents divorced about 13 years ago, so I have plenty of family there. Due to the proximity I have been through West Virginia quite a few times, and know a few people from the area. I think you hit it on the head, regardless of how the rest of the state, or country looks at this area, it is home to the nicest quality of life you will ever meet. I have had the luxury to travel all over this country, and there is still no place that compares to home. It doesn't matter where you go or where you are at, as long as your in the confines of these mountains, you will be treated like family. For people to come in to West Virginia after a tragedy like this and try to pull the things they are, the niceness may not get to shine through.
April 9, 201016 yr Look at what happened to them in Delaware in 2006. Easily it could have been A LOT worse for them.
April 9, 201016 yr I truly admire the restraint shown by the families of the fallen who these psychos protest. I don't think I could show such patience in the same circumstances.

The funny part is that folks I know on the far left and far right agree on one thing, Phelps and his merry band of nutjobs need to be dealt with. If they go too far, this might be it. I would say that IF Phelps himself shows up, he won't leave the confines of Charleston and head south towards the mine. I don't think he has the stones for that.
