Last year NewCath won the freshmen regional with 7 8th graders. This year they currently have 4 freshmen playing JV and 8 8th graders on their freshmen roster. Know your facts before trash the success of the Breds. NCC is doing something right, in the last 3 years they have won one 9th region title and 2 freshmen regional titles. Tons of talent in their program right now.

Two year ago they did not move any freshman up to JV for the whole season, and no body was trashing the success of the Breds. .

The Bird kids all looked good for their first outing. Hector Molina had the big hit of the day, dead center about 275' (they were playing on the football field so pretty eazy to tell!). They'll have their ups and downs this year as all but the 4 or 5 true freshman are new to Highlands baseball, but judging by what I saw last night they've got a real nice base to work from.

 

The Birds and Tigers Varsity must be looking good in practice to allow the freshman to use one of their two scrimmages. Anybody know if the respective varsity guys are playing a scrimmage??

The varsity also scrimmaged Highlands. Saturday varsity, JV and freshman are all scrimmaging against Campbell County.

Banger you need to know the facts, the last two years no freshman for NCC play just JV. If wrong please give me names,we play NCC four time last year and there were no freshman on the JV. This year might be different, but once again, there is nobody that is trashing the kids or the Breds!

I haven't seen an "official" roster for Cooper yet but I hear they have 3 Freshman and the rest 8th graders for their Freshman team. They have several Freshman playing JV and 3 for Varsity.

Yes you are right, this is a freshman thread and NCC play freshman at the freshman level and none move up to play JV full time they move them at time,when most school move up freshman to play full time and never play any freshman ball.

Okay, let's clarify something. I believe I said no freshman were moved up to Newcath's JV last year, for the entire season. Also, they do have 4 that moved up this year, and I never said that was false. Finally, name 1 freshman in "recent years" that was moved up and played JV only? You'll probably have to look back longer that you think.

Im going to go out on a limb and say that Pete Collopy, Nick Seibert and Michael Beuter, possibly the younger Cain boy? They are all good athletes and I have heard excellent baseball players.

Who really cares if NCC or anyone else move their freshmen to JV? It's called a freshmen baseball team for a reason. If there is no need to move freshmen up and use 8th graders then most "private" schools do not do it. This year is the first time Holy Cross has ever had to use 8th graders. Public schools cut freshmen and keep 8th and sometimes 7th graders. This would never fly at a private school because of the kids paying tuition. Which if you really think about it means that most public schools field the best team available at the varsity, jv and freshmen levels. Private schools like Holy Cross, NCC, St. Henry are limited to who they cut and when they move kids up and use 8th graders.
