This is a quality coach, but the Dunbar job may not be a quality situation for Coach Starns.

 

There is obviously a lot more to the athletic program at Dunbar than just meets the eye.

Same old song, different record. If you alienate the wrong group, you lose your job. There is a lot of work to be done at Dunbar. The question is will a coach get enough time?

Lets be honest there has to be some accountability in the job. Even if you alienate the wrong people you give those people amunition when you only go 3-22. I wouldn't want my child to play for a team like that, that is capable of way better.

Would your kid be able to play on the team?

This would not be a good first HC job for Hundley.

 

Griesser, while he would probably like to be closer to his home in G'town, is not going to go into a situation with poor support.

First let me say I know nothing about the Dunbar situation. I do get tired of coaches and others blaming failure on "poor support". It's about leadership, it's about someone convincing another that hey, this is the direction we are going. Then, that other convincing another. It's about being positive instead of negative. It's about finding ways around the road blocks. It's about never giving up.

 

Some successful programs love to perpetuate the "poor support" thing about their competitors so that their programs look better to middle school players looking at high schools.

Support is not the issue, it is rather an inability to build a program that can remain competetive.

I do think that the Hundley mention is a laugher, after all he left the program to go to Scott Co. Sorry, I forgot his dad just wanted to live a dream of a home on a golf course.

From your post I don't think so. You are already bashing a possible candidate for choices his parents made and you do not know the whole situation. :ohbrother: I personally know Scott Hundley and his family.You won't find a better family. Dunbar would be lucky to land such a fine young man and coach.

If this is the Justin Yeary I know, he played at Boyle County in the mid-1990s before getting into coaching. He was an assistant at Lexington Christian to start his coaching career.
