John Anthony Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Feel bad for Dixon, it was gonna be a half court runner probably, maybe they should have thrown it in past half court. Coaching lesson for Mick... put someone on the guy throwing the ball in. On to the NIT at least there getting some post season action.
DragonFire Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 That was sick. Absolutely sick. Dang I was pulling for Cincy there.
gametime Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 The UC season in a nutshell. I want to be ticked off, but it was a great showing by this team in MSG and they will get the NIT bid and some more time to keep improving. They made a lot of progress in these 3 days despite the heartbreaker tonight...
HammerTime Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 I was pulling for UC hard too, hated to see that happen. But if you can't make a decent inbound play after 2 timeouts and get it to someone that can dribble it's your own fault.

Always defend the inbounder on a play like that, and always get the ball into your hot hand (or a ball handler) at the end of a game? Dixon shouldn't have been on the floor in that situation.

At least the 3rd time this year they blew a game on an inbounds play with under :10 left. This team was so close so many times and let it slip away...

Revisionist history. Dixon is very good with the ball and just made a brutal mistake. It's not like they threw it in to Toyloy...
Clyde Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 These 3 games will lend credence to Mick's supporters. The last few seconds will lend credence to his detractors.

Dixon has played 11 minutes in their last 4 games. IMO, you go with Parker over Dixon in that situation. Then you work some picks to help free Wright and Stevenson hoping to get a breakout with a mix up in the D.

If you want to blame it on Dixon having a bit of a bad ankle, fine. He's good with the ball and made a critical mistake. If minutes is the argument, why did Parker play so little tonight? He flat out wasn't solid against WVU putting pressure on the ball...
HammerTime Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 I don't blame it on Dixon, he should have never been in that spot. I understand having him in the game but he isn't the guy you want having the ball in that spot. Bottom line in you have to draw up a better play to get the ball to someone else.
gametime Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Dixon was supposed to get free, make the catch and get the ball back to Vaughn. Didn't happen. That's a big part of why Dion was so broken up about it. He saw an open lane and changed what was drawn up. If you feel that's on Mick I'm not changing your mind. What was Gates going to change guarding the inbounds? Butler got the ball in a tough position, only took one bounce and fired up a heavily contested shot that banked in from 25 feet. All on Mick? Hilarious...

The play was drawn up for it to go right back to Vaughn...
