Has anyone hit the lake for 'em yet? I usually let the water warm up and the crappie to get well into the spawn, but I really want to get out tomorrow. Even if it is only to Bullock Penn or something.

I caught 5 small craps last Saturday on popeye & float. There was ice in many areas of the lake. :irked:

Good to get out and run the old outboard.

Just returned from a 10 day trip to Lake Weiss. Out of the 10 days we had 4 good fishing days. Trolling was VERY slow but night fishing was fair for 3 of the nights. Brought home 23 quart bags of big slab fillets. The crappie were very big...Only had 3 throwbacks (10" Limit) the whole trip. We caught several 1.5 to 2 pounders. The cold weather has slowed early spring crappie fishing on Weiss. Going back next weekend in hopes of having better luck. We fished just off the main channel in about 6' of water...Tried to place the minnows at the edge of the channel. Used lighted floaters with the minnow at about 2' deep.

Must be 85 here in Okeechobee, Florida today. I went fishing, but mostly just wanted to get a little sun before the drive back home tomorrow. I flew down to help my parents drive their RV back home from staying down south for the winter.
