All 10th Region Team

Featured Replies

Voted on by regional coaches.

?

The 10th Region Coach of the Year by merits of his winning the 10th Region Championship is Coach Chris O'Hearn - Mason County

The 10th Region Class "A" Coach of the Year is Mike Code - Brossart

Two excellent choices.:thumb:

PS - does the Coach of the Year automatically go to the regional tourney winner? Just curious.

Yes

The winner of the 10th "A" becomes the "A" Coach of the Year and the coach of the 10th Region Champion becomes the 10th Region Coach of the Year.

I agree with the coaches but not the selection of some of the players.

The 2007/2008 Coach of the Year was Keith Griesser from Montgomery County and we did not win. We were runner up.

That list is a misprint. Stephen Mason was first team and one of the leading vote getters

Also no Stephen Mason from St. Pat??

Mason did make it, he was accidentally left off!

You are confusing the KABC Coach of the Year with the 10th Region Coaches Association Coach of the Year.

The Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches 10th Region COY is elected by the membership of the KABC from the 10th Region.

The 10th Region "A" COY and the 10th Region COY are automatic selections based on the winners of the two championships.

IMO that was a major mistake and would have to hurt that kid. Didn't they used to just pick 10 for the all regional team. There's a lot of kids on these two teams.

Seems like a bigger list than in years past. Maybe coaches decided to expand to get more athetes involved. Would be interesting to see it broken down as first team, second team, third team ALL REGION if you are going to have that many. Anything after third team would still be honorable mention.

I think they do that in the Lex Herald and Courier Journal.

From my understanding the way they do it is that all coaches nominate players if they want and then a ballot will be sent around to all coaches with those nominated players and the coaches vote. The top 15 vote getters on the All-Region Team. I think there were extra's this year because of some ties in the voting process. I may be wrong though.

And this award was just announced:

BEST CONCESSION STAND: Mason County Fieldhouse

The coaches can nominate players but cannot vote for their own players.
