For the 2nd straight year Corbin get's a tough draw, but very fortunate this year as they have already played Scott County once and lost by 11!

 

My guess is that Corbin will give Scott all they want but in the end Scott will be to much!

I think this will be a better game than most think. Honestly, Scott County is likely going to win this game. Both teams are familiar with each other due to already playing. Scott may have underestimated Corbin earlier in the year a little too. With that said, Corbin will not be intimidated. Also, if Scott County does what most believe they will, I still do not think it will be a lopsided score. Billy has too much class for that and would not do that to Coach Pietrowski.

 

In the end, I think Scott county will win but get a heck of a fight from the Hounds.

No shame in that score for Corbin either. I think that Scott County is just playing better than anyone in the state right now. The score of the Tates Creek game wasn't indicative of how they controlled the game, and I put as much stock in a beating a team who scores in the 40's or 50's by 15 points as I do beating a team who scores in the 65-75 range by 25-30 points. Either way, they dismantled two good teams consecutively and in convincing fashion (i.e. Tates Creek and Lafayette).

 

 

If they were to match Guyn on Wilson and Jackson/Manning on Johnson, then the differential in athleticism is going to be very tough for Corbin to overcome if they want to keep pace offensively.

 

Again, this isn't a knock on Corbin, in another thread, I had them ranked higher than plenty of teams in the Sweet 16 field. I just think that Scott Co. and Ballard's resumes have given them distance from the field for the moment.

Manns, who is around 6'3", 265 lbs. played very well against Scott Co. the first time around.

I would expect him to do good again. Scott Co. does have big guards though that are very athletic, who are good rebounders.

I don't think that it is as important as the fact that one coach played under the other coach during high school.

 

As far as them playing in the regular season, I think that can work in two ways-- either the underdog gains confidence that they can play with the favorite and find a few things to tweak that give them a better chance or the favorite exposes some weaknesses that they can expose more thoroughly in the rematch.

IMO, Corbin will play physical basketball and that will keep the game close!

I would like to see Corbin keep it between the 10-15 point range but if Scott shoots like they did last night it could be bad for the Hounds!!
