April 12, 201016 yr Anybody still doing this? I am and it is still hard as heck! I am. And yes, I agree, it doesn't seem to get any easier.
April 12, 201016 yr Not necessarily better, just different. I could do the P90X routines in my sleep and while they were still hard, I needed a little change. Insanity is SO MUCH harder, cardio-wise. It is like PlyoX times 10. Tony spends so much time talking in P90X--there is no talking in Insanity. And I kid you not, the warm-ups are absolutely brutal.
April 12, 201016 yr Do you like it better than P90X? Personally, I like Insanity better than P90X because it is all cardio based. I prefer cardio over weights. There is strength training involved with Insanity, but the included exercises use only your body weight. Speaking of...that's another advantage of Insanity. It requires no special equipment. Also, I like that the workouts are quite a bit shorter. The 60 minute workouts for P90X were very hard to schedule. Insanity workouts usually save you about 20 minutes. Most of the cardio is online with the Plyo-X workouts in P90X. So, in other words, it's pretty darn hard.
April 13, 201016 yr Author I'm in my 3rd week and not doing the diet. I've lost about 5lbs. I hurt the joint in my little toe doing P90X and it is bothering me so I've rested an extra day. It is great I think! The warmups wear me out. I used to be very athletic. I let life slow me down some but feel like I"m getting back in shape pretty quick. I try to listen to my body and break longer if I need too. I'm not ready for my heart to explode lol. Insanity is definatly more cardio. P90X is probably tougher overall but it's different. If you want to tone, get in good shape cardio wise then Insanity is great. The thing I like better is I work, coach on the side and have 2 kids. I was doing P90X at 10:00 at night sometimes to get the workouts in because they are so long. Insanity is 45minutes tops and sometimes not that long. P90X can go as long as 1:30 with the yoga part. They are both great. I like you are working with your own bodyweight in Insanity too.
May 13, 201016 yr I'm in Month 2 and am getting my butt kicked daily! Wow--these are some intense workouts! I can't wait until I earn my t-shirt!
May 13, 201016 yr They should call it "Ridiculous", because that is what it is. Hardest workouts I have ever done.
July 7, 201016 yr Finished my first round of Insanity on June 12 and decided to do a second round. I'm also very interested in the follow-up to P90X, which is P90X One on One.
July 16, 201016 yr Anybody send off and get the free t-shirt for graduates? I did and mine came in the mail yesterday! I've never been so proud of a plain gray t-shirt!
July 17, 201016 yr After doing the P90X twice I attempted to do some of the workouts from this program and found out how out of shape I was. I could not complete any of the three I attempted.
July 18, 201016 yr Probably gonna start doing this soon with Hindsight 20/20. After watching her do it for a little bit Im not sure I can say Im excited to get started. Looks really hard and I know how out of shape I am.

As for your girlfriend/my sister, on the other hand, well...we better start her off with some Richard Simmons' Sweatin' to the Oldies or something along those lines. :sssh:
July 28, 201016 yr Finished my first round of Insanity on June 12 and decided to do a second round. I'm also very interested in the follow-up to P90X, which is P90X One on One. How were your results?
July 28, 201016 yr I have a question about these programs. I'll be honest, since high school I've not taken the best care of myself. At one time I lifted often for football and exercised a ton. Now, the extent of my exercise consists of a couple softball games a week and the occasional pick up game of basketball. I need a surgery on my wrist and my bicep. To make it simple, I'm in the worst shape of my life. Both programs look great but I'm more interested in P90X because of the weight training. Would these programs be too intense for me ? Would I need to try to drop a few pounds and ease back into exercise and lifting before starting one of the programs ?

Would I need to try to drop a few pounds and ease back into exercise and lifting before starting one of the programs ? Insanity is very difficult, cardio wise. I honestly would not recommend it to anyone that is not in decent shape first. It has a Fit Test that you do at the beginning and every two weeks after, and that is a pretty good gauge as to whether you can do the program or not. P90X is different. As you said, it is much more weight training based. There are numerous modifications shown on every dvd and Tony Horton himself often says "modify, modify, modify." I personally believe that most anyone in good health can do P90X, regardless of his/her beginning fitness level. It is not easy by any means, but there are more breaks and down time, whereas Insanity is just pretty much pure cardio, with sparse 30 second occasional breaks. Of course, with any of these programs, nutrition is going to be half the battle in order to get desired results. There is a detailed nutritional plan that comes with P90X and it is important to follow it to maximize results. Yes, you can go through the program without following the nutrition, but you will most likely not look like the people in the infomercial. I am a Independent Beachbody Coach and would be very happy to help you any way that I can. I've been through P90X six different times and am on my second round of Insanity. I don't pretend to be an expert, but I have gained a lot of knowledge simply through the experience of going through the programs.
