Clark County took its time before ending Scott's upset bid in the 10th Region semifinals Saturday.

The Cardinals and Eagles were tied after three quarters, but No. 5 Clark County picked up the pace in the final period to earn a 44-38 victory in the Mason County Fieldhouse.

Vinny Zollo had 13 points and Robbie Stenzel added 11 for the Cards, who were held to 17 points in the first half and six in the third quarter before outscoring Scott 21-15 to end it.

The player from Scott who recieved the Technical was following the official and screaming right at him. I agree that ref should show some discretion at that point of the game, however, the officials had no choice but to call the T because the act was so blatant.

 

The Scott kids played great and the coaching staff had a great gameplan. It is a shame the player lost his cool and cost his team an opportunity to win the game.

 

And poor officiating is just a part of High School basketball anywhere. Unfortunately, that is the way it is. As a player, coach and fan you just have to expect and prepare for it and make sure you don't allow it to rattle your focus.

Unfortunately the technical foul and the poor officiating are taking away what was a great effort by Scott to pull of the upset. Scott had a great game plan and executed it almost to perfection. A few bounces of the ball, a few calls and a few shots go differently then we wouldn't even be talking about the T or the officials.

 

GRC runs out a line up with D1 players and Scott is running players off the bench who might not even make the team at GRC yet with 2 minutes left in the game there they are with a chance to win.

 

Thats a tribute to coaching and having a player to run the show like Scott's Kellen Smith. He runs a team and competes as well as any high school player I have seen this season. Whether you are a fan of Coach Carr or not his teams do not back down and this attitude is reflected in his best player.

I was extremely impressed with Scott's defense this season. They are obviously well coached and have earned the respect of Clark County. Good Season Scott!

I have expressed my respect many times for the Scott team and coaching staff. Always ready at tourney time. Well prepared and well coached.

What Region are the officials from?

 

Congrats to the Cards for surviving and kudos to Scott for having such a great year. I am sure they are not satisified but they are in a tough Region and GRC is loaded.

Our own, 10th and 11th. As I stated before, 2 of these officials were the same ones that missed the basket being counted good in the Franklin Co vs Henry Clay game. Sure hope they are not the officials for the finals.

This is just my guess, but I am going to say that the 3 officials are going to be Bart Lennox, Bo Queen, and Kirk Hudson. Lennox is pretty good and that is about all I can say. Again I don't know who its going to be, just a guess.

You know if Mason County is playing Bo Queen will be there!

Kellen Smith is the best PG in the region, hands down. Brad Carr is the best coach in the region, hands down. GRC got both of their best yesterday, and it was an exciting game to go and watch. Best of luck to GRC tomorrow night. Should be a great atmosphere.

Clark shot just 26.9 percent from the field,but Scott didn't fare much better, shooting only 27.8 percent. Credit great defense by both teams.

From what I have seen Kellen Smith is the best player in the region. I only seen the game yesterday, but without question he was the best player on that floor yesterday. Also, I agree Brad Carr is the best coach in the region and boy his mom is a character. I can see where he got his fight from.
