There did seem to be quite a bit of hype surronding this group that never really seemed to materialize. Will Allen have an opportunity to play in college somewhere? She might be a good fit at Thomas More.

 

I agree...TM is very guard heavy, but adding Katie is way too good to pass up if that's where she wants to go.

Could not agree more with this statement Malachi. I think that Highlands could have used a few of the girls that did not play this year (Hempfling and Theisen) to add some much needed depth to the roster. Great careers for Allen, Towles and Cutter, they will be missed.

 

Good depht will always help a team, that being said, HHS roster IMO was clearly one of the most talented in the region. I have seen Highlands play many times and the next five off of their bench could beat all but the elete teams in Northern KY.

 

For what ever reason they just have struggled in big games.

Hmmmm! Interesting. Taking nothing away from the talent of the players, so where does that leave it?

 

Congrats to NCC on their win. With the young talent HHS has, hopefully they can keep it there and build the program back into a force it once was.

Back to the game...it was a good game. HHS went on that quick 10-0 run to take the lead in the 3rd, but a combination of the energy it took and a the timeout/adjustment by Dawn...it quickly turned back in NCC's favor and was pretty much in hand the rest of the way. Two quick baskets by Allen as the final seconds ticked off made the game appear closer than was...if NCC converts the front-end of three straight 1-1's, doesn't give up those 4 give-me points at the end...they win is closer to 20pts.

I am very happy with the outcome of last nights game.That said HHS should be playing next wk. This system needs to be fixed. the entire state should play by the same rules. One of the best taems in the state should not miss the region. HHS will be missed.

As far as the game went. NCC girls kept their composure all night and stuck to the game plan. Towels came out quick and score 1st quarter points while HHS used the pick and roll to get a mismatch with her underneath against smaller girls. Ron made the adjustment and stopped having

Tabor switch off and stay with Towels and that seemed to limt her easy baskets. Katie Allen was lights out shooting. Hope Cutter played well. I can't figure out why they don't go to her more often.

Once again another girl stepped up for NCC in Fryar she played tough and agressive all night (15 pts). These girls are so unselfish it doesn't matter to them who scores, just the W. Courtny once again showed she is the floor leader, the only time I saw HHS press in th 1st half was when she was on the bench. I won't go through all the girls but I should all of them bring something special to every game. Good luck girls.

Fryer is a talented, strong player. She is unselfish and very versitle. (spelling)

It looked like to me when the Breds came to the bench on a timeout with about 4 minutes to go that they looked absolutely drained. Could the lack of depth be catching up to them?

If you cannot beat the elite teams in the region then how are you successful. The goal every year should be to win the region and not say every year that we were competitive against all of the non-elite teams in the region. What can or should Jaime do to get balance in all of the classes? She will have one senior that saw extensive game action, no juniors and a host of sophomores some of which saw limited minutes of varsity action. I do not know about the success of the JV and/or Frosh teams but the cupboard does appear to be a little bare especially considering the level of talent that has graduated from the program over the last 5 or so years.

I don't think so. they are in excellent condition. This rivalery takes alot out of you emotionally and I think that was what was most draining on them.

Glad to see Hope Cutter was able to play and make significant contributions. I heard she was still nursing a foot/ankle injury.
