Timmy is good, don't get me wrong. A performance he has had to do for the entire year in order for them to win. But against who? They didn't go to or play Mrytle Beach this year, All "A", Anderson County, Mason County, or Ballard. Megan "Penny" Gearheart won the Girls a few years back and in order to do so had to provide a resume that didn't consist of just scoring because kids all across the state put up big numbers either career or in a season year in and year out. She had to show that she could win after they won the state in her freshmen year and that was by winning districts, regions, EKC tournaments (with East as a top 10 state teams also), keep the team in the top ten every year, and going to Lexington and Bowling Green and performing against top ranked teams. Elliott lose to Logan County, East Carter twice, Ashland, Madison Southern, and Fairview. Last time I looked those aren't top teams in the state. Timmy is good, good for the 16th region. Next year maybe. But they have to play an extremely competivtive schedule and he has to prove himself by winning region and performing well at state. It's all about Publicity. Don't take this that I'm bashing Timmy he is a very skilled and amazing basketball player.

Things to take in consideration for such an award in my book would be ,not how many points a boy scores but the %age he shoots from the field, his free throw %age, his attitude, his assist, his ability to work well with team mates, his defensve effort and skills, his ball handling skills , his leadership abilities, his passing skills and the ability to see the open floor. As I mentioned before, scoring is only a small part in receiving such an award. Grades made in classes may be a factor also. There's something else , it only goes to seniors.:ylsuper:

After compiling Elliott's schedule, I looked at their W/L record of their opponents. It came out to be 191-221. All wins and losses of teams played multiple times were only added once. Of the 16 different teams they have played this year, 10 of those teams have losing records with 5 having losing records and 1 currently at .500.

 

To add that further, of Elliott County's 6 losses, 5 of them have come to the 5 teams that have winning records with the other coming to Logan County (11-15).

I'll let you decide what to make of these when concerning the talent level that Knipp has played against.

They may not be sitting down and laying it all out the way we just saw, with hard numbers, but if you think the voters don't look at the strength of schedule each candidate's team plays, you're living in fantasyland.

Texas Leaguer you should have been in West Liberty, Kentucky last night to see the performance he put on. That's the problem with Timmy, people pass judgement on him without seeing him or compare him to a situation from last year that doesn't exist today. That state tournament with Pittman was last year, and I don't agree with your take, this is this year!

 

Hope you don't pass judgement on Pittman either. He's a beast and no one compares to his athletic ability. R. Johnson and Pittman from Holmes are both worthy of Mr. Basketball honors and I'm not putting any other player down. Their achievements speak for themselves.

After last night nobody, and I mean nobody can question his: toughness, commitment, teamwork or any other thing that's been said about this kid over the years. Timmy totally took that game over against West and silenced all doubters as to who is Kentucky's best player!

 

He is a good player, but not near the best Junior in the state. Zollo had 22 points and 17 rebounds against Ballard the #1 team in the state. He is averagering a double double in points and rebounds. Same game you had Robbie Stenzel with 24 points, 22 in the second half, against the #1 team in the state. Zollo and Stenzel are also Juniors.

 

Other Juniors include, Easterns Remel Abel and Lional Gaines, Bowling Greens Chane Behanan, Warren Centrals, George Fant and Mason Co Trever Setty.

Neither Stenzel nor Zollo will win because they will take stats from one another due to the fact that they share the limelight.

 

And for the record Ballard wasn't number one, Trinity was. But Ballard is solid no doubt. I understand saying they were #1 helps your argument however.

 

And I think Knipp will put up such gawdy numbers he'll be difficult to overlook.

 

My guess is that Behanan will be the favorite to win simply because he's headed to the Big East. I'd be highly surprised to see any of the others play at that level.
