I don't know if you could possibly be more off-base with this comment. Kornheiser has been one of the most respected and well-read sports columnists in the biz for a very, very long time, and a good two decades before ESPN "created" him.

 

Tony Kornheiser as a journalist was not known for making fun of peoples dress and so forth. When he started doing ESPN radio thats when his picking on folks began with a comedic turn. I like Kornheiser and I believe ESPN is in the wrong, not him. He was just doing what he has always done.

 

I wasn't a big fan of him on Monday night football.

Listen to him every day via podcast. He's said much worse about many other folks (in particular, Hoda Kotb & Kathie Lee on the 4th hour of the Today Show. Only difference here is the criticism, while completely accurate, was of someone else on ESPN and they don't allow that. He was "on vacation" (suspended) a few times when on ESPN Radio for similar comments.

Exactly. 2 weeks? Suspension = Vacation with ESPN getting to look like they are tough on him. Another ESPN sports program making more news than the sports it's covering.

I read him several times in the Washington Post. Its okay to have a difference of opinion on humor and sarcasm. I think Kornheiser leans more toward sarcasm.

Check out his book "I'm Back for More Cash." Its a collection of his columns and I'd say it leans more towards humor than sarcasm.

I think the "sausage casing" comment got him in as much trouble as anything. Go-go boots and Catholic schoolgirl-wear are fine, but no woman wants to have the word "sausage" used in her body description.

And TTL...I can only laugh at your comment because I'm addicted to plaid skirts for some reason. :lol: Maybe it's the Catholic school girl in me, but I can't even begin to count the number of plaid skirts I've bought over the years. :lol: I don't own any boots like she's wearing, but I do have a pair of black boots....that I wore with a charcoal grey skirt and black sweater the other day. :lol:
