I would say most of them are the ones that their team has the home court advantage in post season tourneys.:sssh:

I'm guessing some of the Mason Co. fans will dismiss the impact of home court advantage, as it makes it easier to justify playing the region tourney at the Fieldhouse every year. Not that I blame them, mind you.

I thought this thread was primarily in regards to regular season games... I think post-season tournaments are an entirely different animal. Not saying home court doesn't hold SOME advantages for the home team, but there are factors that mitigate it somewhat in the post-season.

 

In the 8th, Henry County hasn't won the region since the 8th moved to Henry County HS in 1963... They last won the region in 1962 - the year BEFORE it moved to their home gym.

As one of the "no" votes I would say that overall there is not an advantage. Most gyms are of similar size as far as depth perception for shooters. Obviously the courts are the same. What would give a team a home court advantage would be intangibles like a raucous crowd. I've been to a lot of gyms over the years and VERY FEW teams have raucous crowds. Most gyms are rather dull. So, it comes down to talent. Talent will almost always win out.
