February 16, 201016 yr Krags was doing things right I will agree. But College football is about the mighty dollar. So no way could Jurich bring him back. The people that giving the money would not allow it. Also missing out on bowl games and TV dollars played a role. Krags was handed a team that just won the orange bowl. In three years they couldn't fill the stands at home games. With the expansion being completed there was no way he could return with the product he put on the field. So he was treated like a business decision. This happens everyday in all types of careers. Just like if Strong can't win in the next 5 years he too will be fired. As will Joker, Cal, and Pitino. Bottom line is they all have to win games. I will agree with you on this post.
February 16, 201016 yr What was Kragthorpe doing right? He wasnt winning, couldnt recruit, and couldnt put people in the stands. We would have continued losing on the field and in the stands with him. His recruiting classes were awful. Charlie strong upgraded the recruiting in less than three months. Why would anyone hire him as a QB coach after what he done with Hunter Cantwell. He went from the top QB prospect in pre NFL drafts under Petrino to a QB with a wind up and hitch under Coach K. Good luck to him. I hope we do get to play one of his teams also, It will be an easy win. People want to say he was "doing it the right way", but yet how many students were on the team that had a 0.0 GPA?. I would not call this "doing it the right way".
February 16, 201016 yr ^ I agree. Since his departure, we've come to find out that he fed us a big, steaming bowl while he was in Louisville. Most of us ate it gladly. I'm upset with myself for buying in to so much of it.
February 16, 201016 yr Coach Kragthorpe seems like a good guy. I wish him the best. I hope that he and his family are very happy. As far as UL goes, I think they hired one heck of a coach who will do well.
February 16, 201016 yr I've always liked Krags as a person, but if you don't think it was time for him to go then you're kidding yourself. I wish him nothing but the best of luck in anything he chooses to do.

Maybe he wasn't the right coach for UL, but he AND his family were really good people, and they were treated downright AWFULLY by the fans. It was disgraceful, and there is no excuse for a fan base to treat the families of coaches, or even the coaches themselves so personally. Some say "that's just part of the job". I say HOGWASH! It was an absolutely dreadful display of a severe lack of common decency.

February 17, 201016 yr As many know I am a huge Kragthorpe fan....I hate what happened, but do support the current HC, mainly because he's the coach, and he had nothing to do with Krag's dismissal. What makes you think Strong will fail? What signs have you been shown? What signs have we been shown to say that he will be a huge success? I think Strong will be fine, but I feel like a whole lot of people on here act like he's the messiah or something. He's a guy that has been a HC at a high Division 1 level for a total of 1 game, which he got beat handily in. I wonder how much time he will be given. The schemes he's likely going to bring are going to require a different kind of athlete than what UofL currently has. He is bringing in that type of athlete, but you don't win very many games with Freshman and Sophomores (unless you're Boise State ). IMO it was a great hire for U of L but to me it seems like some think he's going to work miracles from the 1st minute of spring ball. I don't know how you feel about it as I don't remember anything you've said about it, but I've been given that impression by some on here a time or two. With that said, I love the enthusiasm, I wish more UK fans were excited about Joker though I feel Strong is probably the superior hire and more proven coach. What was Kragthorpe doing right? With Petrino both were highly touted as scouts looked past their numerous flaws, many of which weren't too obvious to me with Petrino's offense. Perhaps Petrino was the miracle worker instead of Krags being the destroyer, as IMO the talent level just wasn't that good. It just looks bad on the fan bases and the state as a whole IMO.:thumb:

And that is the exact same attitude that a lot of poster on here had about Krag & Billy G. I think we should withold judgement one way or the other until he has had time to prove himself.

That was never an issue with Kragthorpe.
February 17, 201016 yr I think the difference is that BCG brought it on himself thru his actions outside of coaching. That was never an issue with Kragthorpe. True BCG was no where near the citizen that Krags was I just think UK should have left him alone. He was gone, why beat a dead horse?

I think it was a very solid hire, maybe the best hire Jurich could've made. That said, I do think people are getting a little ahead of themselves in what they are expecting. I do feel, they have enough to go bowling next season. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
