I knew it was good. The only game on tonight and I was so mad at NBA TV for putting the Grizz-Lakers on....I knew it was good when he shot it. Kobe is still better than 99.99% of the league.

 

Well then why do you think Durant would be snubbed if they get a 3 seed? Durant is having a great year, but he shouldn't win the MVP. It isn't a snub if LBJ wins over Durant.

Okay, so I know there is a lot of season left to be played, but I'm now firmly in the Kevin Durant for MVP camp. What that kid has done in OKC is nothing short of outstanding....Durant's 25 point streak continues as they have now won 10 straight....This team has a serious shot at the #2 seed in the Western Conference playoffs at this point, and that's simply phenominal considering the talent level of the other contenders out west.

 

I like KD too, but he won't win the MVP. It's King James.

Sugar coat it any way you want to. LBJ deserves the award this year and he will win it. Durant deserves to be in the top 4 and he will be. There is no snubbing going on unless the voters pass over LBJ b/c they expect him to be great.

I'm the most biased and probably the biggest LeBron fan on here (by far as most would probably tell you), so I'm not sugar coating anything. I would vote for LeBron, LeBron is most likely going to win IMO, but that doesn't change the fact that Durant has had a great season and would be worthy if he won. Have you watched the guy play outside of ESPN Sportscenter highlights? Their stats are very similar since January. I think LeBron is the MVP and best player in the league. I don't know if anyone thinks Durant is the best, but if someone says he's had the best and most valuable season this year I can live with that.:thumb:

1. To me, LeBron is having an MVP year. I can't remember a player having a better overall season than he is this decade.

2. The reason I said since January is because that's when people started to feel that LeBron had it locked up. Since January though, Durant has a higher scoring average and gets 1 more rebound per game. The two teams records are similar.

3. Most people don't watch much OKC very often, so many people just go on the highlights.

4. How do we measure value? LeBron is the better player and with him the Cavs are a title contender, while without him they are in the lottery. Without Durant, OKC would be pretty awful too. They aren't a title contender, but it would be hard for LeBron to take that young team past the Lakers as well.

5. LeBron is the MVP to me. But like I said, I don't think someone is an idiot or whatever you're talking about. Expecting greatness? What is that? LeBron is averaging 30, 7.5, and about 8.5 assist per game. Find me a modern stat line that even compares to how he fills up a stat sheet? LeBron is having the best season of his career and the way he has played this season he is 2nd only to Jordan IMO. This years LeBron IMO is the 2nd best basketball player of all-time to me. But, what I'm saying is Durant is having a nice year too.

The Thunder are probably the youngest team in the league and are in the thick of the playoff race. Let's compare the numbers....

 

James- 29.8 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 8.5 APG, 1.7 SPG, 1.0 BPG. He's shooting 50% from the floor (which is amazing to me), and 35% from 3. The Cavs are currently 44-14, good for 1st in the Eastern Conference

 

Durant- 29.9 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 2.9 APG, 1.4 SPG, 0.9 BGP. He's shooting 48% from the field and 38% from 3. OKC is 33 and 22, currently in 6th in the Western Conference.

 

To me, LeBron's numbers are better. Others may view it differently, some may take OKC's rise to a playoff team as squarely on the shoulders of Durant, because this team on paper shouldn't be a playoff team. They have no big men (Jeff Green plays the 4 for crying out loud!!!), and outside of Westbrook no other noteworthy players. Getting the Thunder to the 2 or 3 seed would be a heck of an accomplishment, and I don't see how anyone could be mad if Durant won the MVP if that happened. I don't see it either but it is possible.

Its definitely a 3 way race with LeBron, Kobe, & Durant. LeBron has the slight lead over Kobe. If Durant can keep up his play and the Thunder can continue to win he will get some serious consideration for MVP, just depends on how he continues to play because its a given that Kobe and LeBron are going to shine.
