And what about the people who work just as hard working FOR someone, and make the business owner a success? You think the only people who put effort into an enterprise are the owners? You can't dispute that the "risk takers" are only the owners of the business. Those they employ have to do their jobs well, as well. They take a risk working for someone who is trying to grow a successful business. I love how the only people who get credit for a business's success here are those who own the business.

 

 

 

I've worked in many capacities throughout my career, including as a payroll clerk, and a department manager. I personally have NEVER seen anyone turn down OT for the reason you state. I've seen MUCH more incidence of companies who hire part time positions to avoid OT because they don't have to offer benefits to part-timers. I've had friends who work for Ford BECAUSE they were guaranteed OT. I've had other friends who had to take on part time jobs because their company eliminated OT.

 

Is there a person here and there that will turn down OT because it will affect their taxes? Maybe. But most people working hourly are much more concerned with tomorrow than next April. They need the money now, not after they file their taxes.

 

Please, are you REALLY equating working for someone as being a comparable risk to the business owner?? That's ridiculous. We're not talking contributions, we're talking risk taking and the effect taxes has on those that assume the risks.

I just applied as a census taker to earn some extra money. No thought to what tax bracket it will put me in.

 

We could use the funds to pay for some of the things that the family wants to do. So, I applied.

You totally misunderstood what I said. I'm not talking about the past, I'm talking about what these goof-balls of today want to do. They want to totally punish success. I worked a ton of overtime and enjoyed every penny I made as well as you did, but they didn't want to take the vast majority of my income and give it to someone else. That's the ridiculous, absolutely un-American and downright criminal concept I'm talking about.

Something else you don't seem to understand is that if this administration continues on it's war with the upper class (the ones who create jobs and do the hiring), the middle and lower class are going to suffer greatly. But by all means, feel free to support the concept of class envy, I'm sure it'll really help out the job market.

I never begruged the owners of the companys that I worked for any of their profits that they made . The more money that they made the more that they were able to put into the company and bid on more work for the company . The more money that I made .

For the last dozen years or so that I worked I was employed at a Company owned by a family that lives in Ft Thomas in fact some of those family members are posters here on BGP ( they know who they are ) . When I was working for them I considered them not only employers but friends also , and still do . Even though they are feverent Highlands Boosters and I am NCC . Class Envy indeed .

I don't think you can compare the risk-takers with the employees of their businesses.

 

If the employee loses their job at the risk-takers business, than they will only lose money and possibily their home if they cannot find another job.

 

The risk-taker has to pay off the cost of the liabilities of the business to just get back to even.

 

The employee leaves the business even. What they do from that point on affects them.

 

The risk-taker has to deal with the past bills as well as the present bills.

They are incentivized to hire more to grow more & thus make money, more of which they get to keep. It's a really simple concept, what's so hard to grasp here? But continue with what these people on the left want, including this administration, then after every business owner in the country cuts jobs, inventory & the bottom line to pay less taxes, then see where we are. Job losses are in double digits now (percentage wise), why make it worse?

I don't know wwhy we are arguing I agree with you on these points . Its just that in my industry (Construction ) I cannot remember once in 38 years running into a fitter say that they wouldn't work overtime because it would put them in a higher tax bracket .

:thumb: It's my fault for not making myself clear in my original post. I'm speaking of the people that provide the jobs when I speak about the higher tax bracket, again, my fault.
