Luge in the Olympics

So you can add to your report that it seems like a pretty dangerous sport. Really sad.

It is definitely a shame to hear that someone passed away while representing their country and doing something they love. I would definitely add it to your report.

Think you will be getting alot of info. on the luge due to this tragic accident. Very sad. Prayers to the young mans family.

Sad! They also showed it on TV just a few minutes ago, to see how his body just stopped was frightening to watch. It's odd that those metal poles were so close to the track and not padded, not that pads would have helped.

I just saw it too. They said they don't put pads on the posts, because the wall is higher in that location. They never expected a person to go over top of the walls in that location. Apparently, there have been numerous crashes on this course in the past few days. It's the fastest track on record, and it has a lot of people scared. People are reaching 95mph in that location, and the guy that lost his life was traveling approximately 88mpg when he left the track.

I need info for a project in school regarding "luge" in the olympics. Any information you may have on the subject would be very helpful to me. Actually you dont really have to send me anything, my teacher is sitting right here and im only doing this so I can be on bluegrass preps and when she says something ill just show her this forum. Thanks

Too bad your project isn't on the mighty pine tree. I think some of us could really help you out.

The posts and areas around the posts should be padded period.

Wow, the pictures of the luge accident are really disturbing to watch. I'd say he very well may have been dead on impact.
