NKMSBL Week of 2/8/2010

Featured Replies

The 6th grade is very, very tight between Pendleton, Holmes and Highlands.

I believe Highlands beat Holmes.

Pendleton beat Highlands.

Holmes beat Pendleton.

If Pendleton could sweep Holmes and Highlands this week, and Holmes beats Highlands tonight, it could very well be a 3-way tie with each team having two district losses.

Pendleton picked up a 2nd loss when Campbell beat them with one of their leading scorers and ballhandlers was out with strep throat. He had 18 against them first game and did not play the 2nd game. Think CC won that game by 6 or so.

7th grade, with Highlands having two losses to Holmes that pretty much wraps up the seeding in their district.

Newport and Pendleton (they split) should play Tuesday night (if the weather doesn't change the dates of the tournament) for the play in game to play Holmes. Highlands and Campbell on other side of the bracket.

8th grade, I am a little unsure here on what has happened between Highlands, Campbell and Holmes. My ASSUMPTION is that Highlands will be the #1 seed with Newport and Sharp 4 and 5 playing the play-in game. Sharp has swept them. Holmes and Campbell on the other side of the bracket.

This is on the boys' side. I don't know the situation on the girls' side of the district.

The Final Four will be set up as follows:

District #1 Champion vs. District #4 Champion.

District #2 Champion vs. District #3 Champion.

Nice site but would be nice if Highlands would report their records.

Stinky you got any clue, or Jack of all Trades? I know you both follow the 6th and 7th grade teams. I heard the 8th grade team had only lost 3 or 4 games and 3 were to Conner. They had like 16 wins or something.

Highlands 6th grade team is I believe 14-6 at this point in time with losses early to Conner, Ockerman, Camp Ernst, Blessed Sacrament and Gray. Team was 5-5 at one time and have since won 9 out of 10 with only loss by 1 to Sharp at Sharp. Once the musical chair substitutions stopped, this team began to excel. Season has been very successful so far considering this is the first year that HMS has had a 6th grade team. Problem down the road might be the fact that many of these kids are also football players. Good nucleus in place which could get stronger next year with the addition of some injured players and transfers from parochial schools in Ft. Thomas.

Highlands 7th grade team has lost a total of 4 or 5 games I believe. They are vertically challenged, but more that capable of coming out on top of this district come tournament time.

Predict the 4 for me.

I think there will be some very good games in the District tournaments. With that being said, here are my 8th grade final four teams.................

District #1-Ockerman

District #2-Conner

District #3-Twenhofel

District #4-Campbell Co.

7th grade, I think Ockerman wins it all assuming they have everyone on their roster playing.

Someone else might be able to provide some 6th grade picks.

Seeding is only based on district record and not league record.

You are not telling me something that I do not already know. Highlands has lost one district game to Sharp at Sharp. If they sweep their next three games they will be the district # 1 seed. If they win 2 out of the 3, they will be the district # 2 seed.

I posted it more for anyone reading your post.

Your post talked about league records and didn't want it to mislead readers that league records determine seeding.

I hazard a guess that if any of the 3 win out and they garner the #1 seed.

I would say betting money should be on a tie either between 2 or 3 teams.

They seem to be fairly evenly matched and whomever is hottest that night wins.

HMS 7th -- 18-5 overall , includes 3 wins in St Thomas tournament

15-5 in league play, 4 - 2 in district. Both losses to Holmes.

I wouldn't count out Turkeyfoot for the 8th grade final. They beat Twenhofel on Tuesday night in OT and play them again tonight.

The coach still struggles with putting the right players on the court, but the boys seem to be able to work through it and pull out wins in spite of the coach.

I agree, lots of talented players on that team. The District tournaments next week should be tense.
