I wouldn't confront them until I caught them doing it.

I'd hide out and wait till I caught them red handed. When I caught them I would take the wood they had in their arms and beat them senseless with it.

The sensible option would be to buy a couple battery operated fake surveillance cameras. They are cheap and work very well. My family owned a business and we had a problem with employees stealing. We set up a few of these and the problem immediately stopped. The cameras are cheap and the ones we had rotated from side to side like it was scanning the area and it also had a red light on it so people thought it was recording. Make sure you put them directly around the wood pile so they are in plain sight of the scum that is stealing from you.
