Did Cousins punch a South Carolina fan following the loss?

Featured Replies

Anyone else heard the rumor that D. Cousins punched a fan (twice)? Supposedly happen while the USC fans were storming the court. It very well may be message board rumors, but I've seen it on a couple other sites.

The rumor is that a USC sports anchor saw it happen. At this time I havent' seen a link confirming this, so it's nothing more than a rumor.

I have not heard that, and I would be very surprised/disappointed if it's true.

I remember seeing ESPN pan back when the fans rushed the floor and in the upper right hand corner of the screen, I saw a UK coach/manager grab Cousins and lead him to the sideline. If anyone TiVo'ed the game, you might look for that.

I've heard it as well. If it was when they were storming the court, I won't pass judgement yet, due to the fact he very well could have been being "hit" in all the ruckus, but I also have a tough time buying it.

That is nothing but a USC fan trying to make Demarcus look bad. Rumor has been debunked.

The stuff I've read said UK coaches saw it too, quickly grabbed him and escorted him to the locker room.

Seems like more would've been made of it if true. Therefore I have trouble believing it too.

It is funny you say that, because with 1 second to go, I was thinking, "Coach, take out Cousins and walk him to the locker room."

I made sure to watch what happened when the final buzzer went off with Boogie. I saw him jog off the court with everyone else but it could have occurred later. I would not want to provoke a 6'11" 280 lb. highly volatile guy. :D

I can't access that at work...What does it say?

Guy called in to the local radio saying he was the one who was LaGarrette Blounted by Boogie. Told the story.

It's the interview of the fan who got punched. He said he ran into Cousins back. Cousin first threw a chicken wing at him, then an uppercut. Dude said he had a shiner, but it was worth it.

That's a tough one. If it really did happen, I would suspend Cousin's for a game, but at the same time....If there's thousands of people rushing the court and you get hit in the back, I understand defending yourself.

I am not defending Cousins here. This has been one of my biggest problems with storming the field and courts for years. It is simply a hazard to do it. You put everyone at great risk by allowing students to run on as they do. Assuming Cousins did this, that would be as about as shocking as the ending to Titanic. Seriously, if someone said "A UK player throws a punch" who do you automatically assume it would be?

He did seem in good spirits about it.
