Highlands 62 Boone County 59

Featured Replies

He was yelling out instructions. Boone hits their free throws in the second half, they win.

Highlands missed five free throws in the 4th qt. and at least seven in the second half. Highlands hits their FT the margin of victory would have been larger.

Anybody have a final on the JV game? I watched til halftime and Boone was putting it on the Birds who couldnt get anything to fall.

Cooper Downs is a very quick guard for that team.

Congrats to Boone JV, but the two officals in that game were some of the worst I've seen in a long time. How do grown men lose control of a freshman and jv game?

Nice win considering Grubbs and Grote didn't play and Kowolonek only scoring 3 pts.

No real interest in either team, but went to the game because nothing on TV. Seems like that's why some of the Boone players went as well. I've watched them play four times this year and seen them lose three of them, all of which could have been won at the foul line if they had shot even a "reasonable" percentage. But this team seems to play very uninspired basketball, like they are either looking forward to district play, or ready for the season to be over, which could be one in the same. Ryle showing a spark, Conner definitely in the picture.

I would not have predicted this after watching the game at HHS friday night. Birds need consistency night in and night out. Sand will run out of the hour glass in a hurry if they don't play with a purpose and focus every night. Time to start putting the puzzle together.

Does anyone know why Grubbs and Grote didn't play?

I know Grote suffered a concussion or atleast had symptoms earlier in the season, but thought he was past that?

Grote bad back... He may be ready to give it a try in a day or two

Grubbs foot - being very cautiuos because he has a football scholarship to Miami of Ohio

Thanks for the info. Didn't Grote injure his back really bad at the beginning of football season? Or is this the same injury that gave him problems last year as well?

I know he hurt the back in pre=season football practice and sat out the entire year. Seems to me it probably is giving him some pain again. Back issues are nothing to mess with, hopefully they get him back and healthy.

It is key having Grote as a scoring option on the floor. He can take it the rack probably stronger than anyone on the team.

Most of Highland's misses were when Boone had to foul to try to get back in the game. If they hit there free throws to begin with, they wuold not have lost the lead, and it might have been a totally different game. Regardless, the team that played better overall won.

Hopefully George gets healthy and is at 100% come tourney time.

I've said since last year that while George doesn't receive the same attention as Stephen K, he is probably Highlands most talented player because of his strength, athleticism, and quickness at both ends of the floor.

Big night for Jack Stewart the Bluebird 6'6 Jr Center and Garrett Smith-Keller who pitched in 14. Grubbs doesnt hit the books for 2nd night in a row. Wow

No POPP?

Highlands 4 21 18 19 62

Boone Co. 10 16 13 20 59

Highlands -- Lother 9, Kowolonek 3, gordon 3, Smith-Keller 14, Watson 8, Dill 10, Stewart 15.

Boone Co. -- Gabbard 4, Schulze 4, Montgomery 20, Cotton 10, Earls 10, Lay 9, Brown 2.

Didn't Treven Brown play much, why only 2 points? When he plays he's been their leading scorer.

Matchup problem with the taller Highland's center?
