Holmes 72 Christian County 69 (OT)

Featured Replies

Final

Elijah Pittman had 33 tonight to lead Holmes. He nailed 2 big FT's with 17 sec left to put the Dogs up 72-69 which ended up being the final.

Kevon Rice had 10 and Chris Hayes had 11 pts unofficially.

Dogs trailed the entire game, mostly by 10 points but pulled back to within 2 points as Kevon Rice sent it to OT on a buzzer shot.

Pittman was a man among boys tonight according to my source.

Thought Holmes would win a little bit easier.CC a top 10 team good win for dawgs.Surprised Rico fouled out =. Anybody have box scores..Does anybody know if Avery played ??

Final

Jaydale Herndon hit the trying shot to send it to OT, not Rice.

Pretty sure Avery is still out however that is not confirmed. I heard Pittman finished with 34, but either way he dominated this game for Holmes. Holmes was down 11 when Rico fouled out and fought back to tie it up at the buzzer with there leader on the sidelines. It was back and forth in overtime until Pittman's free throws sealed the deal. Great game from what I hear, but all I was getting were text updates....

I heard Rice as well, but again I was getting text updates.

Huge win for the Dogs.

Ricardo Johnson fouls out with Holmes down 11 with around 3 or 4 minutes left and Holmes fights all the way back to send it in to OT.

Holmes trailed by 10 at the end of the first, by 4 at the half, and then to start the 4th dug themselves a 11 point deficit. Holmes went on a 7-0 run to pull within 56-52, but CC would score 4 of the next 6 points to take a 62-54 lead with around 2 minutes left. Holmes closed the game on a 9-1 run to tie it up at 63-63.

Christian Co then took a 2 point lead at 65-63 with 3 second left but Rice hit a shot at the buzzer to send it in to OT. Holmes never trailed in OT. They scored the first bucket in the OT then traded baskets with CC until a free throw put them up 70-69 with 30 seconds left. Christian Co misses a shot and Holmes got the rebound and was fouled with 17 seconds left. Pittman steps to the line and hits two big free throws to put the Dogs ahead 72-69 and that would be the final score.

Holmes played the last 4 minutes of the game and the entire overtime without Ricardo Johnson who fouled out with just 4 points. Very gutsy performance by Holmes and Pittman showed why he needs to touch the ball on every Holmes possession offensively. He absolutely dominated tonight with a career high 34 points and carried the Dogs down the stretch once Ricardo fouled out.

This was played in Mt. Sterling? There can't be many teams who have travelled as far as Christian County this year for basketball games.

Did Wilson play for CC?

I've been waiting for Pittman to have a big night and it seems as if he was outstanding. Has to be a positive for Holmes since they were missing Rico for the last nine minutes of the game and outscored the opponent without him by 14.

Holmes 72 Christian Co. 69
Christian Co. 21 14 14 16 4 69
Holmes 11 20 12 22 7 72
Christian Co. (14-3) -- Hickey 27, Kates 20, Lewis 9, Gayle 6, Tandey 3, Wilson 2, McDuffen 2.
Holmes (13-4) -- Pittman 34, Hayes 11, Rice 8, Herndon 6, J. Johnson 5, R. Johnson 4, Slusher 4.

Herndon hit the tip in at the buzzer to send it into over time I was there after Elijah missed the shot.:dancingpa

Christian Co also travels to Shelby Valley next week which is around 300 miles away. They've definetly done some travelling this year.

Yea Wilson played tonight...noticed you posted the box score though, so I'm sure you knew that.
