Valentines Day Suggestions

Featured Replies

Kygirl and mcpapa have the best suggestions. The CD/White Castle thing is fun for high school/college students, or if you and your date have a special memory involving White Castle. Just make sure she actually likes White Castle.

For anyone on a limited budjet (and who isnt?), cooking a romantic dinner at home (tablecloth and all) and a movie rented is also very nice.

I like Valentine's day because it makes you stop and think about your loved ones. Now, Sweetest day, is a made up stupid "holiday".

No they have the most politically correct ideas. I have been married for 25 years not because of jewelry, candy, dinners or movies. It is because we love each other and all of the other stuff is superficial. If we are sitting in a doublewide, watching VHS tapes on a 19" tv, thats what we wanna do because we are together!

I think about mine everyday!

So....

1. Pizza or WC Lounge

2. Cheap Sheer Sexy stuff

3. Cold Beer

4. Good Killin Movie with the hero getting the girl!

If my wife expects more than this....she is spoiled!:jump:

Well, I have been married over 30 years, and dated the man for 7 years before. I can tell you I have never EXPECTED those things, but I have never turned them down either :sssh:. We certainly are not together because of any of it. :ohbrother:

Yes, we had our pizza years and jewelry years. This year is dinner with friends. I think it is nice to have a day where we all stop and think about our loved ones.

I doubt your wife expects any of the "politically correct" things either. Wonder how she would react if she got one?

#5 asked about gift ideas to consider. I still say kygirl and mcpapa have the best.

My whole family has reservations at Spago at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas on Valentine's Day. Our gift to each other (for the wife and I) will be tickets to a Cirque du Soleil show. Have not decided which show yet.

^ Mine already asked about seeing it about a month ago.

Mine said something about it too.

To bad I'm going to be about 800 miles away on and around Valentine's Day.

Not a guy but from a gal's perspective a few suggestions:

1. Plan a weekend trip somewhere close, even if it's only an hour or two away. Call ahead to the hotel and have your dinner waiting in the room, along with flowers and dessert.

2. Take your loved one out for a day at the spa. Treat each other to couples massages.

3. You can never go wrong on Valentine's Day with her favorite flowers and chocolate.

4. Serve breakfast in bed. Use cookie cutters and make heart shaped pancakes or heart shaped toast.

5. A nice card with tickets inside to a concert or any event that you know that both of you could enjoy together.

WOW! Is this really what people do for Valentine's Day (Nothing but a corporate money stealing holiday) now? Whatever happened to a card and some chocolates?

Well, if a guy did one of those things during the year for no special reason, then no one would care if you ignored Valentines Day all together. Same rule should apply to the ladies.

Some girls really love that stuff. I did a couples massage with my lady earlier in the year, it was pretty nice.

So I've been talking to this girl for about a month now, we've went out on like 4-5 dates, but definitely nothing serious yet mainly due to the fact that she's lucky to have 1 night a week free. She works two jobs, takes 18 credit hours, and has practice every night. (She's on a dance team. :D) Anyways, not real sure what I should do assuming things are still going well come Feb. 14th...Suggestions??

You havent dated her long, so dont go big.

I would go with something simple. Flowers are always good. They come in a variety of prices and when she looks at them she will smile and think of you. Roses are expensive and may be too serious for someone you havent dated long. Places like Krogers always have very nice, lesser priced flowers.

Candy and a card are also good.

Myself and 5 of my closest friends put on a Dinner for our wives.

1) Send them out for the whole day to do what they want to do.

2) The 6 of us meet for breakfast then plan the meal and go shopping.

3) While the women are out shopping, getting pedicure or whatever even a few drinks, we start preparing the meal.

4) When they return after about being out for 5 or 6 hours we pamper them to drinks and some kind of appetizer.

5) At the table each women gets two roses in a vase to take home.

6) We then serve them about a 4 or 5 course meal.

7) When the dinner is over we guy's clean up and wash the dishes.

8) Rest of the evening we play games where everyone participates.

More fun than you can imagine and it goes along way the entire year.

The women love to be pampered and waited on.

I'm in a similar situation.

I'm hoping she's the kind of girl that either thinks VDay is stupid (which I think she is) or she will be too busy that night. :D

After 25 years of the other....She would think I cheated on her! Then it would REALLY cost me.:ylsuper:
