January 10, 201016 yr The UNLV player, much like Cousins, was trying to take a charge. I went nuts when Perry threw down that dunk. It was awesome, NIT game or not!
January 10, 201016 yr DC had the awareness to stop the ball. He got there late and a little too close to the basket before attempting to stop the dribbler. He got a "Welcome to college basketball, FRESHMAN!" If he hadn't tried to play defense he would have been in one of those cushioned chairs on the sideline, I guarantee!! The bad news for UK opponents is DC is growing up quickly. He is a man-child coming into his own.
January 10, 201016 yr Great dunk! The good news is Cousins tried to take the charge instead of overpowering the guy and fouling him. That play was good to see.
January 10, 201016 yr Nobody in the house thought he was going to take it to the rack with that much authority. The surprise factor was almost as high as the wow factor.
January 10, 201016 yr That thinks that was not that great of a dunk on Cuz. He stood there and tried to take a charge. When I think postersized, I think of someone actually trying to defend the ball. Had he actually jumped, there is no way in the world that dude dunks it. Cuz probably fouls, but no way he dunks on him. Cuz got owned, big time. That was one of the best dunks I've seen in ages.
January 10, 201016 yr So what if a charge was called on the Georgia player? Then it would have been a turnover & an awesome dunk. DC had the awareness to stop the ball. DC had the awareness to stop the ball? He let the guy dribble all the way down the lane and dunk it? How in the world did he stop the ball? He was way too far under the basket. I agree with your last two sentences. Nobody in the house thought he was going to take it to the rack with that much authority. The surprise factor was almost as high as the wow factor. Bingo. :thumb:

IIRC there was another guy back by the basket that Demarcus had to stay on or it would have been an easy pass for an easy layup. He tried to come over at the last second, but didn't get there quite quick enough. It was a spectacular dunk though, no denying that.

Demarcus should have been out further from the basket and forced Leslie to commit earlier. Instead, he allowed the ball handler to go all the way to the basket. 2 on 1 fast breaks are difficult to defend, but the one thing that is certain is that you don't defend it by standing underneath the basket. FWIW, I'm not picking on DC nor am I saying that he should've stopped the bucket. He was in a very difficult situation. I think he did the right thing by taking the charge. I'm not convinced it was a great call, but the point remains that you'll never get a call standing under the basket like that.
January 10, 201016 yr  Digging a bit huh? Nah, DA is the man. Check this one out. Who's the white guy? Jeff Foster? Austin Croshere?
January 10, 201016 yr Nah, DA is the man. Check this one out. Who's the white guy? Jeff Foster? Austin Croshere? Not sure.. But if he threw that down, that's impressive. He's out there.
January 10, 201016 yr This is my favorite... http://mrhiggins.net/algebra2/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/carter_dunk_france1.jpg
