Is the Big 10 Back?

Featured Replies

They should have at least 4 teams in the top 15 (Iowa, Ohio St., Penn St., Wisconsin). They beat some talented teams this bowl season from the other conferences. LSU, Miami and Oregon couldn't out athlete these guys. Next year IMO (I'm making my bold prediction), the Big 10 will be in the title game and they will give Alabama all they can handle.

I would like to see a good championship game, I hate the blow outs...

I would also love to see Joe Pa get another ring.

I don't think they really beat that talented of teams. LSU (Les Miles screws up again, imagine that), Oregon (won a very down Pac10), and Miami (they are getting better but not near being there yet).

2 year ago, the Big 10 didn't have the athletes to even compete in these games. They are winning against teams that would have out-athleted them. What Northwestern was able to do, in a loss, against Auburn should be included.

The Big 10 isn't getting run off the field; they are beating other conferences head to head that they were not 2 years ago.

Beating Oregon, LSU and Miami said alot I think. Those are the type of teams that in the past. Not many teams throw as much offensive fire power out there as Oregon or even Miami have. The Big 10 has gotten more athletic and it has fused with the physical strength Big 10 offensive and defensive lines are known for. Now, those 3 teams all had some holes, Oregon's defense, Miami's OL, LSU's clock management and offense, but they all had very good seasons.

IMO the Big 10 is back.

No. They had a good bowl season but overall the regular season was pretty poor. They have a chance to make some noise next year.

No, the Big 10 is almost as boring a football conference as it is a basketball conference, and that's saying a heck of a lot.

Heaven forbid a conference trying to be efficient in running the ball and playing defense. Do you like the NFL? Not the same amount of talent but it's a similar style of game IMO.

I don't know if one pretty good bowl season is being "back" or not. I do believe that the Big 10 is getting better and on the rise. Also, I am not so sure I know what all of this "back"...."best conference" or any of the other bashing a certain conference is all about. I consider myself a college football fan, that means all conferences and not just praising one certain conference and bashing another. I have been guilty in the past of bashing the Pac10 conference myself and that was wrong out of me. I guess I fell into the trap of conference bashing on the Pac10 just because I can't stand some of the teams in the conference and not the conference as a whole abd that is wrong.

Anyway, I look for the Big10 to make some noise next season. They (Big10) are showing signs of coming back to a very tough conference. Ohio State imo will be a pre season top 3, Penn State will also be very good imo along with a couple of others like Iowa and Wisconsin.

As for the conference being "boring" I don't get that either. I don't call a win (any win) boring. Ball control, tough defense, good special team play wins football games. I don't trash someone for their preference on style of play........"you play to win the game":D and imo whatever style a coach is comfotable with and that he wins with is o.k. by me.

I like the SEC and the Big10 along with others. Like I said, I am a fan of college football, not just one conference. Should others want to bash certain conferences and claim their favorite is the only one that can play football then to each his own I guess. I am not going to get into that.

Hey, if you've got the guns to do it, then by all means, go ahead. Keeping in the spirit of the Big 10, there's a BIG difference in the NFL and the BIG 10. Last time I checked though, I never saw any team in the Big 10 jacking it up like Manning, Brees, Brady, Favre, for that matter Schwab, Romo, I could go on, but I really don't like the NFL all that much.

Big 10 = a good night's sleep. Any time I have trouble sleeping, I just slap it to the Big 10 network and that's all she wrote. Especially if basketball is on!!! That's one good thing I can say about Tubby.

Okay, like I said talent is different. Style of play is similar, teams try to reach their goals in similar fashion. Running the ball and defense. But there aren't any good RBs or defenses in the Big 10 I guess......:idunno: Boring doesn't always mean bad football. Often it is just the opposite.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it isn't good. I can't stand UF or Tebow, but it would be insane to say that they're not good IMO.

:ohbrother: I thought this was a football thread and forum. :idunno::lol:

I don't know if they are back or not, but we will get to see what should be a great matchup as Penn State travels to Tuscaloosa during September.
