Maschinot played a lot early. Did OK. Not great. Schult did not play.

 

Early in the season is when you try different lineups and find out who you can count on. The bench has gotten a bit shorter already.

 

Well Clyde, I went back and listened to the game as I was not there, and doesn't sound like Mark and the J-man would agree with this assessment of his game tonight.

Is Thelen a Sr? Is he the son of PJ?

 

Yeah, graduated around '88 probably (not positive on that.) He's about 6'10'' and had a few tryouts with some NBA teams. Rumor always was that he was the last cut for the Jazz and one of the last cuts for the Hawks. Great guy.

 

The Thelen there now is his nephew.

Thanks for pointing out my misleading comment. It wasn't fair to the young man as it was vague.

 

He gets big kudos for improving his ballhandling. You can see him having more confidence while dribbling especially with the left hand. For those that saw him last year and have seen him in the past you'll appreciate his improvement in regards to dribbling.

 

The vague "OK" comment dealt with the halfcourt offense. He struggled a bit with pressure but to be fair to him all of the guards did. The Camels won the first 3 quarters due to the tremendous pressure they were able to put on the guards. It made it very difficult to get into the offense and to get the ball inside. IMO all of the guards seem to lack confidence in their passing when pressured.

 

If Connor improves his confidence and passing it will not only help him personally but will help the team. It seems to be the #2 overall challenge this team has.

 

I do feel that the coaching staff has gained a lot more confidence in Connor which is good to see.

Either way, it is good to read your comments, as I agree these things will only help the team. If he is on the floor, and Cubby is running the point on defense, if we can get Schult out there as well, I think defensively, these guys may be able to cause some headaches!

Looking at the boxscore it appears this was the Jake Thelen and Brady Jolly show.

 

Nice comeback win by the Colonels.

 

If Covcath could get big games out of both Thelen and Wellbrock on the same night, they'd be tough to beat. Seems like when Thelen has a big night, Wellbrock has an "ok" or below average night and vice versa.

As a Camel parent and Alumni I would be intersted to hear from you Cov Cath guys your impression of this years Camels. From an outsiders point of view what did you like or dislike about our team? What did you see as our strengths and weaknesses? I fear that I am being brain washed by those in the stands around me.

I liked their offense overall. Essentially they were playing 5 2s and 3s. They run a nice offense for that bunch. Open post. Lots of dribble penetration and kick outs.

 

I also thought they did a nice job of applying pressure on the perimeter.

 

They didn't handle CCH's pressure in the 2nd half. I assume their injured PG would have helped.

 

Overall, I liked their team.
