Grote did play but looked rusty, Grubbs and Kowolonek did not.

I would think the score would have been closer, given Highland's depth.

The Birds better buckle em on for the Lex Cath Tourney or they will get sent packing. I expected a close game but to get beat by 22 seems very very disapointing.

The paper said that Newport hadn't won in the nine years that Russell has been the coach. Wow. I'm shocked by the margin of victory.

I have been saying since the summer to watch out for Newport, they have a lot of talent this year. Nice win for them.

Is Foster the only transfer they have? He seems to have transformed Newport from a mediocre team to a pretty good team. Newport did not look especially good when I saw them this summer.

 

What kind of size do they have?

 

Holmes and Newport can often benefit from impact transfers more often than other schools in the 9th, I think, because of their demographics.

That Jones and Sizemore kid may only be 145 lbs but they are tough as nails, will put thier nose in and push and shove with anybody,two tough kid's.

Highlands depth is very good, probably the best in the 9th. They have about 8-9 that can play and contribute.

 

Injuries are a part of the game so I expected Highlands to do much better against Newport. Is ther a problem with the Birds?

 

I don't know if there is a problem with Highlands or not but they looked bad last night.Maybe it was Newport that made them look that way but they looked off last night .Newport JV also won 50-43.
