The list begins and ends with one word: Gus.

Gus Johnson, as touted by Jim Schue and others on this board, is the most electrifying broadcaster around nowadays. March Madness is a blast with him.

I like Jimmy Dykes...doesn't hurt that he loves UK, but he really seems to know the game and does a good job of explaining it for novices without dumbing it down too much.

Hubie Brown, Doug Collins, Mark Jackson, and Jeff Van Gundy do a good job too IMO

Hate Berman and i used to not like Collinsworth but he is starting to grow on me because he doesn't cut anyone any slack

College basketball is the only thing Gus Johnson should ever, EVER do.

He has tried MMA and he's pure garbage at announcing MMA.

When Kimbo Slice fought Seth Petruzelli (anyone who knew anything about MMA knew Petruzelli had a great shot) Gus kept referring to Seth Petruzelli as "Rocky" getting a huge opportunity and being an underdog (much like Rocky against Apollo Creed). And then when Petruzelli KO'd Kimbo, Gus started shouting "Rocky! Rocky! Rocky!". It's so silly, I cringe thinking about it.

He's good at college basketball...and he should stick to that.

I think I watched him do MMA- Silva's fight I believe- and thought it was bad as well.

What Silva?

I'm guessing you are talking about Antonio "Big foot" Silva, because it couldn't have been Anderson Silva.

Gus Johnson does quite well at NFL, but he's certainly at his best with NCAA hoops.

Still enjoy listening to Marty, and Jeff Brantley has always been pretty solid.

I still love tuning into a game and hearing the warm, rich tones of Dick Enberg, especially when an "Oh My!" moment comes along.

I thought it was Anderson's fight, but it may not have been. Now that I think of it, I think it may have been Fedor's fight.

The minority view....

I hate 'em all. Their predictions are wrong most of the time and their second guessing is annoying. I don't think I've ever seen extremely intuitive foresight from any of these guys. Their hindsight is great, however. Better than 20/20. :irked:

The following applies only if I'm by myself, or watching a game or sports show with only Mrs. S, who feels exactly the same as I do on this stuff. The only time I hear the analysts are when I'm watching TV with a group.

I've gotten to where I turn the sound down when watching all televised sporting events. I don't need some "expert" telling me what I just saw and criticizing the coaches and players incessantly. I'll turn it up, if I need an explanation of something I don't understand, but right back down it goes when the analysis starts. If I could just hear the crowd and get the feed from the stadium announcer, I'd be a happy man.

The only pregame I liked was Fox's version and I only watched that for the Frank Caliendo bits. I say watched, because, since I can pick those Caliendo bits off of his web site now, I don't even watch that. The rest of them I can do without.

I primarily watch Fox Sports News, Sports Center, and ESPN News when a game is not on. However, when the team of analysts show up, I'm out of there. That means, the only time I watch the NFL, MBL, NBA, or NHL networks are when games or game replays are on. PTI, Rome is Burning, NFL Tonight, The Best Darn Sports Show, Baseball Tonight, College Game Day, .... etc. All of them are a major waste of electricity and TV programming time.

I'd rather come here and read all of your comments, personally.

I like Bob Papa.

I like a lot of the guys on the NFL Network SIRIUS Radio...

Pat Kerwin and Gil Brandt are probably my favorites. I like Papa and Rich Gannon pretty good as well.

I'm a big time Jay Bilas fan.
