UC radio color analyst Jim Kelly is reporting that a team meeting has been called for tonight at 6 pm just before the beginning of the year end football banquet. No other details have leaked yet, but I doubt it is to announce he signed an extension with UC...

Uh oh....

No chance it's to tell them that he is not taking the Notre Dame job?

No chance it's to tell them that he is not taking the Notre Dame job?

I would be very surprised... :idunno:

I would not be too surprised to see him tell them he is staying....

Daugherty had a laundry list of items that Stoops requested but ND refused to budge ranging from admissions of players to JUCOs, to Training Table, to discipline...on and on.

After reading all of those things ND doesnt offer that most do. It is not that great of a job...handcuffed to say the least.

However, the "ego" can be awfully hard to overcome.

There is some higher ups who are hung up on his abortion stance and his work with gary Hart's political campaign.

ND is still getting flack from people over the Obama Speech at graduation.

Edsall is the fallback...and will be in Birmingham today and is headed back to Connecticut afterwards. He has not interviewed.

If Kelly isnt named by the weekend then it will be Edsall IMO...and the Irish Nation will go nuts.

Guaranteed that a player texts the answer before the meeting is over.

I would be very surprised... :idunno:

What percentage would you give that BK is headed to Notre Dame?

What is Edsall's resume like and what am I missing?

Why would Kelly call a meeting like this if he weren't going to go to Notre Dame?

Why would Kelly call a meeting like this if he weren't going to go to Notre Dame?

He told his players that they would be the first to find out regardless of what his decision was.

I would be very surprised... :idunno:

I'm w/ LABS on this. I think he asked for the sky and was offererd a few clouds. ND isn't caving and he probably understands it will be really hard to go 12-0 at ND. They won't like anything there other than titles. If Kelly goes there and they go to two BCS bowls in a row that would be great at first. The next year and from then on he'd be expected to win a title. It's hard to do anywhere let alone somewhere that is cold and has player restrictions. It's not like his name will never come up again for open jobs. He'll be on everyone's short list. Money and ego are the only reasons to go for him IMO.

I talked to Kelly last March at Harrah's casino in Vegas the Wednesday night before the first round of the NCAA tourney. He was at a $5 roulette table alone. The entire casino was packed. I talked to him for 5 minutes at the table. Nobody in the casino knew who he was. Nobody except me noticed him after he got off the plane. I talked to him the next day and nobody had still noticed who he was. Does he wan't the fame and pressure of ND?

The fame & pressure of ND would allow him to jump up to the big boy tables where he wouldn't have to worry about getting noticed.

Does he want to be noticed?

He calls the team meeting to tell them Im stayin in Cincinnati and let's go beat the Gators January 1st!

I love how information gets twisted. The team was told to assemble at the Linder Center lobby at 4:30 for transportation to the banquet. At this point no team meeting has been called...
