Daugherty had a laundry list of items that Stoops requested but ND refused to budge ranging from admissions of players to JUCOs, to Training Table, to discipline...on and on. After reading all of those things ND doesnt offer that most do. It is not that great of a job...handcuffed to say the least. However, the "ego" can be awfully hard to overcome. There is some higher ups who are hung up on his abortion stance and his work with gary Hart's political campaign. ND is still getting flack from people over the Obama Speech at graduation. Edsall is the fallback...and will be in Birmingham today and is headed back to Connecticut afterwards. He has not interviewed. If Kelly isnt named by the weekend then it will be Edsall IMO...and the Irish Nation will go nuts. Now LABs, that's not a valid excuse. You know better. Limiting the # of athletes you can even recruit can't possibly be a factor in ND not being able to compete with the USC's and Florida's of the world...:sssh: Interesting point... I will say Kelly is the hot name now, but he has proven he can win at the college level. I think they have the recruits, just need a good coach.
December 10, 200916 yr I'd certainly lean toward him taking the ND job, but I'm not convinced that its a certainty by any mean. If I were in BK's shoes, I'd have a few demands not related to money that would have to be met before I'd make the move. But, that's just me.

Hopefully, Brian Kelly can be their Nick Saban... Not really...They tried one coach who actually had head coaching experience and that was Willingham. Thing is he really had not accomplished to much at that time. The other two were guys with no head coaching experience at all. Hiring Brian Kelly is different from those guys. He has a lot of head coaching experience, he has also been very successful as a head coach. Everything is different about this hire, than it was with the other guys.
