So you are saying he ultimately lost his job because he yanked the Prinicpals kid? Wow, I've heard it all now. That's a sad sad situation.

 

Ditto...Wow. Can the prinicipal be reassigned or does he have tenure such that he would have to be a convicted felon before they can touch him?

Anyone know what the Manual Schedule looks like next year? Can't imagine it is as challenging as this past season but I know my Cardinals are slated to take their first ever trip to Louisville in week 3 to take on Manual.

 

Hope the new coach, whoever he is, doesn't get cold feet and try to pull out of the contract. :eek::scared:

Heard some things this afternoon from someone close to the program - who detailed some conflict between the prin. & the HC. Especially relevant to the 'playing time" of a family member ???

The banquet was a nice tribute to the "team" from this past season and YES there was a conspicuous absence or two. The absence was not unexpected since the same were usually absent when the team had pre-game meals. Once again, this makes one wonder what kind of message is being sent to the "team" and the "individual" players. Let us all remember that the whole team should be considered as opposed to a certain few individuals, that is what makes football the "ultimate" team sport. I would be willing to bet that if the scenario were different (the conflict in expected playing time had not been an issue) that there would not have been a Principal missing the Football team's banquet! Just Saying! You can read between the lines.

That's really awful Pete......I don't know if whatever happened was warranted or not...but this Principal should be ashamed.

You know Pete, it longs for the good 'ole days at Manual, when all the negative fan support were a few "less than sober" ex-players - a.k.a. "The Jersey Guys".

If I were Nichols I would have had a real hard time not blasting the Prinicipal on this issue when interviewed by Frakes.

Didn't mean to "air this type of laundry" but if there was any truth to it thought it should have been out there. The truth is a funny thing sometimes. May put a whole different perspective on this to some folks. too bad.

That's the difference between a great coach's ability to make a clean break, not to burn bridges... and not to mire the school in print media. I wish him and the entire football staff well in future endeavors...

No matter the consequences, I would not have expected Nichols to talk negatively about the school, administration or program. Nothing to be gained there! If he had aired any negative feelings it may have been difficult to gain consideration from another school (much less one in Jefferson Co.).

 

As far as the team that returns for 2010, they will be an experienced and battle tested group of "Juniors and Seniors to be", the program will continue to improve and will be a load for most teams on their schedule next year. Someone (whoever gets the privilege to Coach this fine group) will most definitley look like a genius because this team WILL win games!

Good luck to the Crimson's next year. I stated on here very early in the season they were to be commended for their ambitious schedule and efforts to strive to improve.:thumb:
