No, Bourbon Co. won it as the 4th seed under Dudley.

BC was a #3 I think?

Yep - Garrard was 4 seed that year, Boyle was 1 and Lex Cath 2 - Lions beat Newport ( 1 seed) then lost a close one to LexCath the next week

Tilghman was not a 4 seed ... they were the 3 seed behind Union County and McLean County.

Exactly, just like Bourbon County in 97.:D:banana:

Wasn't Danville in that district, too?

Tilghman may be the first to win a title with 6 losses.

Here is a link to the 1997 bracket.

Boyle was #1

Danville was #2

Bourbon was #3

Lexington Catholic was #4.

I don't remember Garrard being in AA that year with them. I recall it being Boyle, Danville, Bourbon, Lex Cath. In fact I checked and the previous order is correct.

Since the premise of the orginal question posed in this thread is incorrect, how about: Is Tilghman the first team to win the title after winning only 4 regular season games?

Both could be true. Probably is.

If it were up to MANY on this board, PT would have never even been in the playoffs. So many on here want to eliminate the #4 & #3 seeds to shorten the season by a week and prevent the #4 seeds from getting blown out. If they had their way, PT would not be the state champs, ... but they are!

Big win for Paducah Tilman. MAJOR win.

You are thinking of 1999, apparently. Garrard beat Newport by 1 in overtime and then lost to Lexington Catholic 22-7 in the second round. Boyle County won the title that year, not Bourbon.

Sorry, I thought they had finished 4th in their district. but hte 6 losses, I knew there was a first in there somewhere. My apologies for starting a thread with incorrect information.
