November 16, 200916 yr Bengals needed a back who could tote the rock for 20+ carries if Benson were to go down. Leonard and Scott are not those type of backs. IMO, this is a good move for the Bengals. They are winning and have enough veterans to be able to tell LJ to shut his mouth, get on board and ride this train to the playoffs. If he refuses, as stated several times before, they can dump him and lose next to nothing.
November 16, 200916 yr In Chicago half the team didn't want him there, or did you not remember that? Then he got in trouble with the law with alcohol too. People were saying that it was dumb for them to sign him and it worked out. As for Larry Johnson he has played on some bad football teams lately. I mean shoot even Chad Ochocinco was a bad person to have in the locker room when things were going bad. Winning changes things and changes people, plus he is coming into a winning situation. It would be almost impossible for him to cause problems in this locker room. If anything he probably will try to prove on the field to his new teammates that he can help a team that is already very good. However worst case even if he does cause problems like you think, he has came at a cheap price and could just release him then. More good can come out of this than bad. I remember that issue during the Super Bowl run. I cede that point.

November 16, 200916 yr I see know reason to throw this disruption on a team playing like this. They got lucky w/ Benson, eventually these kind of signings catch up to you. How is he a disruption for this team? If anything he will want to prove he can still play, plus he is coming to a first place team. You honestly think the guys in the locker room will allow him to be a disruption and mess up this season for them? If anything he will have to prove to them that he will be able help the team. As I said before there is more good than bad than can come out of this. Its really good to see the Bengals, actually doing things to try to improve their team instead of just sitting still.
November 16, 200916 yr Ok...I'm hoping for the best, but do not agree w/ this at all. All any of us can do now is sit back and watch this play out.

In years past, there wouldn't be strong enough veteran leadership to overcome the distractions that he brings.

November 16, 200916 yr The Bengals have signed way too many risks and I know they have worked out so far but I just worry about this signing. I'm not a big Bengals fan but love the NFL so we will just have to wait and see.
November 16, 200916 yr Roy Williams Whoops...just went and looked and they brought up Purify to take his place. So I guess it could be Purify who's at risk or maybe Kooistra who was signed to fill Henry's spot.
November 16, 200916 yr Yeah they can release Purify and then resign him to the practice squad again. At least he got 1 big check.

I think Kooistra is the odd man out. He's already been let go once this year I look for it to happen again.
November 16, 200916 yr Marvin said in the presser that this will not change the role of any of the 3 main backs. He will strictly be a backup player SHOULD it happen.
November 16, 200916 yr This sounds eerily similar to the Milton Bradley to the Cubs thread a while back.
November 16, 200916 yr This sounds eerily similar to the Milton Bradley to the Cubs thread a while back. Only Milton got a stupid amount of money and Johnson is getting the minimum.
