I think the Kentucky coaching staff would tell you that if they play "well", they win the ballgame. I agree that Kentucky is inferior in most years to Georgia in talent and the Wildcats have played three straight close ballgames with Georgia.

That would be as good a record as Kentucky has against any of the Big 3 in the SEC East. UK has just really struggled to move up the ladder in the East.

Kentucky played Georgia within four last year in a game they might should have won. The Cats lost to Georgia by 11 in 2007, and beat the Bulldogs in 2006.

 

The bottom line is Kentucky has lost to Georgia in two of the last three years and 26 loses in the last 30 meetings. Kentucky has won 2 of their last 30 games against both Florida and Tennessee. Is that also "good"?

The point is that nobody on this UK roster has ever been bullied by Georgia. I'm sure all of them feel like they should have won it last year. Bringing up the past 30 years is pretty irrelevant... his point was that UK has played them good... lately.

Those of us who have seen UK play Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee 90 times in the last 30 years and witnessed 8 wins in those 90 games DO NOT consider it irrelevant.

 

In the last three years, Kentucky is 1-2 against Georgia.

I usually don't have good feelings about UK when they play teams like UGA but I really think UK can and will win this year. The WildCobb formation killed UGA's Defense last year to the tune of 40 or so points. UGA's defense is even worse this year and UK's O is more experienced. Plain and simple UGA's D is downright awful. I had a good feeling about the Auburn game and a good feeling about this as well. I had a bad feeling about the S. Carolina game (because our corners were out) and a not a great feeling about MSU game. Also I think UT's D will make it hard for us to win that game. That being said I've got a great feeling about UGA game. Brooks needs to stick with the Wild Cobb and UGA can't stop it. Their D is horrible.

2008: lose by four with a chance to win in the redzone with ten seconds to go.

2007: led 10-7 at half, lost 24-13

2006: trailing at half, Kentucky scored 14 in the 4th to win 24-20

 

The past three seasons (Kentucky's run recently), the average score of the game is 28-23. I'd consider that playing well against a team that is usually much more superior in talent to the Wildcats.

My head says UGA by 8-10 points at home, but I will pick the Cats. I think they will be much looser and play one of their better games this season.

BTW, I LOVE the pass from Locke to Newton. It not only gives you yet another option out of the Wildcat formation but forces a defense to defend Newton when he is split out knowing that UK could throw it to him.

By wording it "always" is probably a mistake by me. I meant (and I thought it was obvious then, but maybe not) that they have played well since Kentucky's "resurrection," starting the year of their bowl win under Brooks. It was later clarified in a later post by me that I meant recently, but you still didn't grasp it.

 

The past three years are "playing good" for Kentucky standards. Not Georgia standards, Florida standards, or Tennessee standards. If they lost to Florida three straight times (considering UF has won 2 of 3 NCs), but by one point a piece, would you consider that playing well against Florida?

Mostly because I think UGA is bad. Real bad. But I do think UK is playing decent.

It's a combination of the two. UK beat Auburn at Auburn, and for the season, I feel that the Tigers have been better than the Bulldogs. Outside of the UF and Bama games (#1 and #2 in the country), UK has not been blown out and are just a few plays away from being 8-2 at this point. They didn't make those plays, so they are 6-4 instead. I think that Newton is gaining confidence and they are beginning to show a few more options from the Wildcat formation. I also think with the loss of Moreno and Stafford to the NFL, UK has a much better chance to contain the Bulldogs offense. UK has recently defeated UGA (season before last) at UGA, so I don't think the mental block is there as it seems to be for UT.

 

However, if you gave me the choice of UK winning this game or the UT game, ... I would take a UT win. Been a LONG time coming and given the choice, that is what I would take. .
