I hope fans are not on here taking pot shots at mountain football. Believe me, EVERY school in NKY is looking up at Johnson Central when it comes to high school football atmosphere. They have also been in elite what, at least 4 years in a row? They deserve respect.

I hope you are not referring to my comment. If you are I certainly did not mean that in a bad way. Acutally last year when Highlands arrived at JCentral they were playing Deliverance over the PA. We got quite a chuckle out of it. Maybe they don't do that for everyone and it was special for Highlands but we all know it was all in fun and really gave the Highlands fans a fun memory of Johnson Central.:thumb:

Well that makes sense now. Sorry for the implication and not knowing the facts. Never ever heard a good reference to that piece of music. They did not play that.

If I can question two of Coach Matney's decisions.....

 

Bringing the qb back in after he got knocked out(literally)

Running a trick play on a 2 pt conversion up 17 with 2 minutes left and CCH with no timeouts left.

 

One was not very smart. The other just simply isn't good for the game.

You are right about the QB. I am very surprised the officials let him come back into the game. It was clear he was knocked out laying on the sideline. I guess if the official was not capable of seeing a two handed shove pass interference call right in front of him we should not expect him to see an unconscious kid laying on the field.

 

One other point, the mountain air help CovCath's punt game. Those were some of the nicest boots of the year.

There were more than one person wearing JC colors who questioned that move by Coach Matney! Why take a chance on a players health for the sake of a football game that was already over!

Pretty sure Bir will be solid be end of year. He is going to be a good one. They have all their backs back plus Connelly as maybe best WR in NKY. Future bright in Park Hills.

 

They also lose 3 offensive linemen that will be hard to replace.

I am glad to hear that (he wasn't knocked out) but the young man was not at all walking on his own across the field, more so he was being led across the field and he looked quite shaky in doing so....

 

Did you think after talking to him and watching him walk back to the other side that he would or should have returned so soon in a game that quite frankly was over at the time?

 

I can tell you this, most where I was at questioned the young man coming back into the game so soon and they weren't the CovCath faithful! either!

He may not have been totally out...but for a player to lay completely motionless for as long as he did it was scary to say the least and I am very surprised he returned.

The origination of "Dueling Banjoes" over the PA was actually in 2006 for the first visit of CovCath. We figured the other city folk would appreciate it also. (We scrapped it for CovCath this year, they've already heard it.)
