November 10, 200916 yr ....and the story I was hearing from Western Kentucky was NOT true..... http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?t=192307 See post #2. WRONG! Yeah, it's kind of shady. When I heard the rumor I thought it was kind of quiick, but as stated in this thread someone from higher must have made the call. I will keep you posted on my end of the whole thing and you do the same on your end!:thumb:
November 10, 200916 yr I guess the rumor I heard WAS true..... http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?t=192307 Any knowledge on if there is someone they have in mind?
November 10, 200916 yr Any knowledge on if there is someone they have in mind? Yes, but can't confirm at this moment so I'm not going to give any names.
November 10, 200916 yr What makes you think Joker will leave UK when he will be the head coach in a year or so? :thumb: I can't see a guy who has been named the head coach in waiting at a better situation take a job at WKU. Chuck Smith is an interesting name...I'd like to see how he would do in that situation after the success he had at Boyle County.
November 10, 200916 yr Yes, but can't confirm at this moment so I'm not going to give any names. what fun is that. You know BGP loves rumors.
November 10, 200916 yr what fun is that. You know BGP loves rumors. I know, I know. I just don't want to ruin it or jinx somebody.
November 10, 200916 yr Monroe Co. has a wide out over 6'1" named Neil Wilson only 60 miles or so up the road from BG but Elson has shown he rather have someone from out in the wild blue yonder than some good local talent. There is a Kid who plays at Boyle Co...Who is in the Running for Mr Football...I asked him if He had been contacted by Western. He said no...But said He would love to play for WKU...Maybe the best running back in the state and no offers from Western...:ohbrother:
November 12, 200916 yr Here's a report from yahoo with possible names thrown out for the WKU and Memphis job. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=td-newsflash111109&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Romeo Crennel is interesting here, IMO. That would be a long way from his days as an NFL Head Coach in Cleveland and DC for the Pats. Good pick-up, but I think they can get someone who fits the job better. I would try for someone like Hatcher. He is a proven guy at the HC level. Malzahn, Franklin, and others like that are great OC's, but who knows how they would do running an entire team? Malzahn really doesn't seem to care about defense at all. I think Trooper Taylor could be interesting. He's been around some good offensive minds with Mike Gundy and Malzahn, and he has been known as a good recruiter. Outside of Hatcher, he is the best fit IMO.
November 12, 200916 yr I do know that a parent of a former Fort Campbell player asked Coach Berner if he would apply for the position. Crennel went to WKU....but you're right, it's a long way from his NFL days. Cris Carter is a WR's coach at St. Thomas Aquinas, but that doesn't really apply here (just thought I'd mention it). Later.
