"ROCKS" will win this Friday even without my help. I'm in New Orleans!!!!!

Oxnard. Keep it coming. I know by reading yours and Papa's posts that the Tigers are just too fast and talented for us this year. Where have I heard that before? This team is much different than the one you faced a month ago. We won't look past Shelby County.

We have no disagreement that this Trinity team is much different than a month ago, but we may disagree on why. Me and many others feel the improvement is because they now have some super sophomores and freshmen who are becoming major varsity contributors. I must admit, however, the last minute 14-13 win over Lexington Catholic has me wondering how much improvement has occured?

In terms of us showing that "the Tigers are just too fast and talented", we have already shown that to you once 32-7 in early October. Neither team is assured a bye to the finals, so we may or may not meet again. If we are both fortunate enough to go to Bowling Green, I know recent playoff history after mid-year beatdowns have favored Trinity, but I do like our chances of reversing that this season.

By the way, I did predict a narrow win by the Rocks over Shelby County and an X/T Final. Hopefully both of us will survive.

T will have all they can ask for with SC. If there is a year for a public school to beat T, this is it.

IMVHO - that is a pretty accurate and objective asessment.

Wow! I am shocked at how close this pole is.

We've been plugging in the pieces all season. Whether they are Sophomore's, 4 of them now starting or a Freshman phenom in James Quick at receiver, it really doesn't matter if they are the best at their position. X beat us by approximately the same score last year it really didn't matter when we played the second game. Should we both make it through to the finals and if you think that first game means anything this time around, you're in for another long day. The difference between T & X, we're busy preparing for this weeks game. X is already countng on winning the Ring. It doesn't work that way.:thumb:

Can someone update the current status of the gentleman with the heart condition at the Catholic game. Thanks

Just compare common opponents, look at the power ratings, and then make a decision based on the facts. It looks like Trinity should win, but it will be close. Shelby is probably the best 6A public school that Trinity has played all year. Trinity wins a close one 26 to 21.

I imagine that the Rocks will be a bit more "up" for this game, seeing as though there is a blackout planned, and that is going to make it a fantastic atmosphere, which Trinity usually performs well.

Rocks 35

Shelby 14

Shelby County 35 Trinity 31:popcorn:

I'm not shocked at all. Although I've picked Trinity to win, I've seen Shelby a lot over the years, including last year's 1-10 team and this year's top 10 team. Some aren't giving Shelby much credit, I think, in part because of last year's team's record, but that's a mirage. That wasn't a bad team at all, it was a team absolutely wracked by an incredible number of injuries to the best players, including several top offensive linemen and the star quarterback. And they played an incredibly brutal schedule, hence, the 1-10 record.

Ironically, Shelby County is a better team this year - I think - in part because of last year's struggles. When Cresap when down last year, they didn't have a backup triggerman for the pass-happy offense they had installed, so the Rockets switched to running a power run offense. As a result, this year's team is more multi-faceted on offense than they probably would have been had the injuries not occurred...

This year, Shelby returns almost everyone from that team and they are strutting their stuff. This will be one of the most explosive offenses Trinity has had to contain all season, and the Rockets have good team speed at all positions.

I'm still picking Trinity to win, but no result in this game would surprise me.

Thanks for the insight.
