Thank you to the administration for hosting the football game against Brossart. It was a well fought match with Frankfort coming out on top. Congratulations and good luck to the Frankfort football team. With that being said, I was disappointed with the accomodations for the opposing team (Brossart). Requiring 200 plus fans to sit in a dilapidated, structurally unsound bleacher that could only hold 50 fans is ridiculous. The seats that we attempted to sit on were broke and when we tried to sit in the much larger stands next to the Frankfort fans, we were told that we had to move. Does that make the Brossart faithful rude and disorderly? If so, please accept my apologies and a member of that group. However, it seems that the host school is should do its very best to offer accomodations that are adequate for the school which they are hosting. An administrator cheering on their student section because they are taunting the Brossart parents and fans is in my mind, deplorable. I hope that the next time our teams play that the camraderie and the accomodations will be more appropriate.

The accommodations at Frankfort are not the best for the opposing teams. Beechwood has been there the last two years. It is a shame what the opposing teams have to deal with. The fans at Frankfort can be brutal also. :lol:

Something went very badly administratively wrong last night in Frankfort.

 

Unfortunately, our fans, most of who are veteran travelers to out of town games and will normally roll with the punches, really came away with a sense of bitterness towards the Frankfort High School administration, many demanding that we involve the KHSAA in seeking resolution to our treatment at Friday night's Brossart vs Frankfort Class 1-A playoff football game, played at Sower Field.

 

Brossart brought a players bus, a student cheering section bus, and an Executive Charter fans bus, in addition to the many fans who made the trip by car. Our fans easily equalled or outnumbered the fans of the home team, who were unwilling to allow us to share the primary grandstand area, even though there was plenty of seating for both groups and enough space between the groups to be considered a buffer zone.

 

There is no way that the substandard seating on the opposite side of the field was even going to begin to hold our contingency, even if it were physically capable, which it was not. Our cheerleaders obliged the Frankfort administration and moved to the opposite side bleachers and were joined by our student section. Our adult fan group held their ground and invoked the rath of the local fans and the assistant AD.

 

It sounds like the Frankfort assistant athletic director (the football coach is the AD) was attempting to enforce a directive that might have been issued prior to their becoming aware of the multitude of Mustang fans who had traveled to Frankfort for the game. The result being a near confrontation between our fans and the Franfort administration, who were totally unreasonable in their demands.

 

With this being said, we received nothing but cooperation from the Frankfort football coaching staff in obtaining rosters, statistics, and being provided pressbox space to do our internet broadcast last night.

 

I truly hope that this was all just a big misunderstanding and mis-carrying out of the administration's true wishes last night, and that the Frankfort administration will learn from this bad experience and treat the Bellevue fans in a much more hospitable manner next Friday night. They will arrive forewarned..

I dont think the fans from Bellevue will be quite so nice in tone, use of language, or as compromising as those fans of Brossart. :madman:

As for how the fans where treated maybe the street goes both ways. Maybe there is a right way to find out where the visitors sit when there is a big crowd. Coming into the visiting teams place and demanding things is not the way to go.

If I'm understanding the Brossart poster correctly it wasn't the coaching staff, it was the administration controlling the crowd that wasn't very hospital.

 

At what point would the KHSAA step in? If you get the wrong crowd coming down to watch a game this may not be a good situation. I know at Bellevue and a lot of NKY stadiums the grandstands are all one, usually shared by home and visitors alike. When coming from a area where grandstand are normally shared it is only natural the fans would assume it would be ok to split the stands. It's not very hospital to tell the visitors they have to go sit in some old falling down grandstands. I would suggest that a good punishment would be for the Frankfort fans and administration to sit in the dilapidated visitor stands.

It seems to me that if there is room, both sides should be able to sit together. I've been to Frankfort many times and I've yet to see them fill up the "home" side with fans, though I'm sure that it has happened at some point. It really shouldn't be a problem, considering that several of Frankfort's fans sit on the visitor side (close to the opponents' sideline) along the fence. Seems like that their seats in the grandstands should be available for the visitors, if nothing else.

Yes, the visitor's side bleachers are old and small. Big deal. I bet you would find that at a lot of stadiums. At least some of the visiting fans had something there to sit on behind their team's sideline.

 

Yes, the Frankfort fans can get rowdy, especially those lining the field. I don't condone how some of those around the field handle themselves and what they say but I don't think it ever gets completely out of hand.

 

I sat in the Frankfort home side stands in the past at a game that was totally packed and the people around me were friendly. I respected where I was sitting and didn't stand up in the middle of their crowd screaming support for my team. If I needed to scream to support my team, I would not have sat there.

 

I think before I jump to judgment, I need a lot more details about specifically where on the home field side the Brossart fans were trying to sit and how that all unfolded. We all know that the home team's fans like to sit in one area game after game. Did the Brossart fans set up in an area that is always where the Frankfort fans sit?

 

I think Brossart was very enthused about their first playoff game and brought the fans with them. Remember, this is all a new experience for many of the Brossart faithful so they aren't familiar with traveling to a road playoff game. I would bet Brossart fans and administrators will do a better job preparing their fans the next time. Frankfort was probably caught off guard and they weren't ready for the crowd. I am sure Frankfort will do a better job this week with Bellevue.

I would have to disagree with Coach Bucket. The bleachers are unsafe and could not and should not accomodate ANY visiting team - REQUIRED to sit in them. How could Frankfort expect any visiting team - bringing over 200+ fans into their stadium to sit and STAND on the visiting side - when their bleachers on Frankforts side was at least 50% empty even with Brossart fans sitting in 1/4 of the bleacher section. Frankfort really had a poor fan showing for being a home team in playoff position. Another problem is that our cheerleaders were FORCED to move to the other side of the field to cheer, after being treated rudely on Frankforts side. The cheering side on the visiting side is unsafe also - our girls cheered on uneven concrete and were unable to do any stunts or jumps. I agree with Mustang - maybe the KHSAA should be aware of what went on Friday night at this stadium. I also hope that when Bellevue rolls in next Friday night that they are treated with more respect than Brossart was. Hopefully Frankfort administration learns from the mistakes that they made with hosting Brossart and works to resolve this from happening in the future with other teams.

That would have to be answered by the person who started the thread, but there was quite a bit of anti-Frankfort administration sentiment being bantered about among our fans who attended the game following their arrival back in Alexandria on Friday night.

 

Being so out of character, and contrary to the way fans expect to be treated by host schools, and such a hot topic among our fans, I'm not surprised it made it's way to a public forum.

 

This allows others, who may have had similar experiences at Frankfort, or other sites, to chime in. Hopefully, it will bring the situation to light and possibly lead to a resolution of the problem, and a better experience for future oppontents' fans.

 

To VOR, our fans did not attempt to infiltrate the Frankfort fan's area, and clustered as far to the west (concession stand end) end of the stands as possible.

Just wanted to throw my two cents in... we've been working with Frankfort each and every season for the past 4 years (during my involvement with our team). And I must say Frankfort has been a class act across the board. That goes for the coaching staff, players, and the parents I've interacted with.

 

Unfortunately, it would be a shame for a few handful of fans (Frankfort and Brossart) to set the tone for both programs/schools. I hope the events of past Friday evening are an exception, and certainly not the norm I've seen from Frankfort.

 

I will also say across the board for the most part, the visitor seats where ever we play are not on par with the home field seats (in my High School sports experience). However, our fans have always been welcome in the home field stands everywhere we've played without exception.

 

If there is a safety concern with the Frankfort visitor bleachers, that can and should certainly be pointed out to an official at the school so that it can be properly addressed and remedied. As far as "quality-of-view" from a visitors side perspective, I've seen a whole lot worse over the years than Frankfort.
