You would have to provide prisoners with health care (medical treatment) because they have no possible way of getting it.

Rights are God given. They come without cost to another man. The government can not give to me without taking from you.

I don't think you can make that assumption. If so, couldn't one also make the assumption that anything falls under the "pursuit of happiness"?

Are you suggesting my freedom in this country has not cost anyone anything? Like my grandfather and his brothers in WWII. Somebody sent that bill to them.

Much like playing football for the New York Jets, healthcare is a privilege, not a right.

Some people seem to be talking about health care and others about health insurance. I believe doctors take an oath to provide health care to those who need it. I'm sure they expect to be paid for the care they provide though.

 

Health insurance in my opinion is not a right and shouldn't necessarily be a requirement. Some people (the very wealthy or the young and healthy) choose to self insure.

I was speaking of Rights not your freedom. You have the right to view the men that signed the Declaration of Independence as racist. You have the right to disagree with the way this country was constituted. These rights did not cost your grandfather or uncle's. I have a nephew seving now. Your rights have not cost him in any way. God is the God of all man kind. He gives these rights to all man. I honor all the men like your grandfather and his bothers and also my nephew. They have paid and are paying the cost of my freedom to excerise my God given rights.

In the USA today it is a privilege. Much like other things that have happened, such as women not having the right to vote and slavery, one day people are going to look back and ask why were people in our time had people with no health care. I don't see how in the United States, we have people that cannot go to the doctor or get the medicine they get. One day this is going to look very, very ignorant IMO.

 

Health care should be a right to everyone, and will be in the near future, IMO. The only people who could argue the other way are those who've never went without health insurance. I've always had it, and after being really sick for the last 2 years I cannot imagine what I would have done without being able to go to the doctor.

I will agree with you and the "racist" Thomas Jefferson that liberty or freedom is a God given right. I have a question. Can one of my rights infringe on one of your rights?

Who can't go to the doctor? Who can't go the the hospital?

 

My neighbor up on the hill has insurance that covers breast enlargements for his wife, liposuction, plastic surgery, Viagra and other things my insurance doesn't cover. I WANT THOSE THINGS TOO! NOW WHO'S GOING TO PAY FOR IT? You?

A right is an entity that every American has at birth. Would it be realistic for the government to appropriate enough funding to cover healthcare for eveyone who needs it? The national debt is already deep enough. I just do not consider this a realistic idea.
