November 1, 200916 yr Who are your top contenders? My Top 5 1.Tim Tebow-Florida 2.Mark Ingram-Alabama 3.Jimmy Claussen-Notre Dame 4.Colt McCoy-Texas 5.Jeremiah Masoli-Oregon
November 1, 200916 yr I know Jimmy Clausen's team isn't undefeated, but if Tebow and Ingram lose I think it will go to Clausen. He has to keep his numbers up though. Clausen also plays the toughest schedule of the guys on this list outside of Masoli.

November 1, 200916 yr Author :ohbrother:  What's your deal with Notre Dame? They played USC, Michigan, Michigan State, Washington, Washington State already and Purdue already, and they still have to play Pittsburgh and Stanford. I don't care what team you are, that's a tough schedule?

Only one of those teams you listed is any good  Pittsburgh is good, Michigan State gave Iowa-who is number 4 in the country-all they wanted, Washington beat USC and Stanford can play with anyone. It's a tough schedule, no one plays a top 5 team week in, week out. Last year's Notre Dame team would probably only have 1 or 2 losses and would have been murdered by USC, but they are a completely different team and Claussen is the reason IMO. He deserves to be in the Heisman discussion.

Washington is 3-5... one good win doesn't make you good Michigan St is 4-5... one "good" loss doesn't make you good Washington St... 1-7 Purdue 3-6 coming off a solid 37-0 loss to Wisconsin Man those are some solid teams the Irish are playing

November 1, 200916 yr ^Not a big fan of how all that stuff is calculated. I can see the teams ND has played and tell you that they aren't very good. They have played a lot of BAD teams in BCS conferences, so these computer numbers for SOS will be in their favor. This isn't the thread for it though. I agree with Spikes' top five, but there is no order for mine really.
November 1, 200916 yr I think Golden Tate should be on the short list. The catch last night and against USC were amazing. What is scarry is that he is supposed to be the #2 WR. Would love to see what the Irish could do over a full year with Tate & Floyd both split out wide.

I think Oregon is the playing the best in college football right now, and Masoli should get a lot of credit for that. If they keep it up he deserves a ticket to NYC.

He has stronger hands than Michael Crabtree, and I didn't think that was possible.
