October 30, 200916 yr I can, easily. And if the voters of this state do something so monumentally stupid as to elect him, they deserve whatever ill befalls them as a result. I don't understand criticizing voting for him and called it monumentally stupid at this point. It seems hes done a great job as Ag. Commissioner. I think it is an interesting option, but he should not be voted for just because he played basketball at UK. Personally, one thing that I think could be a positive with him is I think he may be good for SE Ky. Hes born and raised there and knows the area better than say Beshear or Fletcher. Would he be good for the state as a whole? I have no idea at this point.
October 30, 200916 yr Author I myself am an old 13th region boy. It would be good for SE Ky. The coal industry needs someone to stand strong for it. I do believe he would do that. I am concerned about his total qualifications to be Governor. In John Calipari's first press conference he mentioned that Richie was gonna be Governor. Did he know something at the time we didn't ? With a Calipari endorsement and Richie's popularity within the state. Beshear is gonna have a hard time repeating.
October 30, 200916 yr While I understand that initial impressions (he was only elected because of basketball) tend to stick, the fact of the matter is that he has been a tremendously successful Commissioner of Agriculture. Many of his buy Kentucky programs have been top notch, and he reorganized a subsidy administration program that now has us as one of the most efficient programs in the country. You all really need to research this further, he is NOT just a former basketball player. Now, Governor? I'll reserve judgment for now, but he certainly is electable. I've met him several times and he is an arrogant jerk!
October 30, 200916 yr I've met him several times and he is an arrogant jerk! Ive been around him some too. Ive found him to be a very nice guy.
October 30, 200916 yr I've met him several times and he is an arrogant jerk! I thought you were the one who said during campaign season that you don't have to be able to drink a beer with a guy in order for him to be a good policy man?
October 30, 200916 yr I thought you were the one who said during campaign season that you don't have to be able to drink a beer with a guy in order for him to be a good policy man? There are plenty of people I wouldn't drink a beer with that are still polite. But, I'm sure IF the campaign starts I'll find plenty of reasons not to vote for another Dempublican. I don't remember saying that though...but I'm sure I could have.
October 31, 200916 yr Winning elections has no qualifications. Right? Didn't for President of the USA in 2008.
October 31, 200916 yr Or 2000 and 2004, for that matter. It was a light-hearted comment so I won't point out that W had been a governor of one of the largest states in our country. To use a school testing question. Richie Farmer is to KY governor as Obama is to US President.:D Is there a yanking their chain emoticon?

At best, I have about equal confidence in their and Dubya's ability to do the job.

October 31, 200916 yr I hope not, that means he would have to come to work more than he is in his current job.
