I think we are talking FOOTBALL. Heck we have state titles in other sports. But football is to me on another level.

 

Geez, Ram, are you really that unknowledgeable about Mayfield or is this a joke? You act as if you're completely unaware Mayfields ever won a championship.. And yes, in FOOTBALL.. 7 of them to be exact and 14 or 15 Finals appearances, so, they sorta know what it feels like...1977, 1978, 1984, 1985, 1993, 1995 & 2002..Also, was in finals in 1998 & 2006, so, appears they've had a pretty good run thru about 4 decades...How many's Raceland got? How many times have they been in the finals? Mayfield also is in the Top 10 in All Time wins in the nation, not just the state...

Mayfield had a very solid football team back in 2002! So solid that Raceland's team camp was at Mayfield the following year(2003).

My apologies go out ot you and all of the Mayfield family. All through the 70's and 80's I was serving our country in the military. You see I wasn't in the USA or in Kentucky all the time. I guess I should of kept up with Ky high school football better. And in the early 90's I was taking care of my stepson at home who was in a bad car accident and was in a coma for 8 years. So no I wasn't lucky enough to enjoy the good ol days that you were having back then. But anyway you may be about to win another. Good luck to you and all of Mayfield. And yes I was unaware. Now quit getting so upset and be:cool: If you want to get upset over something. Get upset that the President isn't giving our boys fighting in Afgan. enough support. And the troops feel it. Not over who is ranked #1,2 or 3 ect. Other things are a lot worse else where. It's like having a coach tell you to go out on the field with 8 players. And you arn't getting any more. You ain't worth it.

It's cool Ram...If you legitimately didn't know, that's fine...Thats the reason I wanted to fill you in...You and several others that support Raceland have made several comments which pretty much disrespected Mayfields team, acting as if they're not in the league of some of these other programs and mainly because they reside west of I-65, when in fact, outside of maybe Beechwood, Danville, Trinity and Highlands, theres noone in the state who's been as successful a program over the past 40 or so years. I remember them all, through the championships and the runnerup seasons and have seen a whole lot of football teams from east to west and in between and I'm no different than the majority of the Mayfield fans on this and other boards. Our fanbase usually has a pretty good idea when our team has a good shot and when it doesn't. I have no idea if they'll win it or not. I'm just tired of the talk up about how great a tradition and program that some have when I know for a fact it isn't any better and in most cases not even close to as good. I'm done now... Appreciate you serving our country and good luck to your team in the playoffs...

Wow, way to heap it on. From reading this post, I'd hate to see what will happen to these young men from Beechwood if they don't bring home the gold.

 

And please tell us more about this stuff you call .... what is the word... oh yes, Tradition. :jump:

 

If they do not win state it will be brutal. They will take a couple weeks, or more, off and begin working for next year. They will lift, condition and train. They will work even harder to get back on top. That is where they feel they belong.

 

By the way, not to look to far ahead, next year and the year after look very bright. Last years freshman champs playing against all schools, including 6A. They lost in the 'ship yesterday against a very good 6A team. These kids will be ready to keep up the tradition of Tiger football.

Mayfield has very good teams on the way. We have one of the most talented freshmen in the state. I look forward to the contests.

I had know idea about Mayfield back in the late 70' and 80's. I was out of the loop you could say. Traveling to places like Alaska, Hawaii, Korea, Germany, Moraco, California, Texas, NY, N. Carolina, S. Carolina, Indians, La. and more. So you see it was just a little hard to keep up what was happening in the state. Even in the United States. But I did get close to Mayfield a couple of times. I did 6 weeks training at Ft Campbell. And went back for 2 weeks a couple years later. Believe me when I say this. I think Mayfield is an awesome team. They keep proving it each and every week. I said when you played Critt. Co that Mayfield would kill them. I think the only difference we have is. I think that Mayfield is the 2nd best team in the state. But believe me I have been wrong a few times in my life. Hey I bet I have flew over Mayfield in UH-1's, Blackhawks and CH-47 choppers a lot of times. And don't stop coming at me just because I spilled my guts to you guys. It's fun jabbing back and forth. Most impressive. Hard to believe. Just AWESOME. OUTSTANDING. I don't know how else to put it. I had to ask my son-in-law about this. He said oh yes, Mayfield in the 70's, 80's 90's and he thought 01 or 02 they won the state title. See people all the way over here know what Mayfield football is all about.
