David Ball was the starting quarterback, but I think he was hurt early in the year and Dondi Noah played some before taking over the next year.

 

Garry Henson and Tim Shackleford were the best pair of defensive ends in the region and Mike Dempsey was the best tackle pound for pound in eastern Kentucky. Bryan Barrett was an all-state kicker. Tommy Hensley was their big-play guy, and Mike Sergent and Dusty Alred also started in the backfield. Shelby Calton, whose son, Jordan, is a standout defensive end for the Bears, was a linebacker.

 

I think it was Hilton's fourth year at Bell. He lost the first four, then never lost again.

 

Should have lost the next year also. If i am correct that game was the game @ Cawood high when the ref called a couple of 15 yard calls on the fans and a fan who came out on the field. I think this march Bell down the field and they threw a slant ( in and out of the hands of Macgeorge) in the endzone for the winning score?:ohbrother:

I had a brother in law star for an earlier team (1984), but 86 was a very fun year. I was a few years younger than those guys, but grew up watching Shack and Dempsey at Loyall and those guys were awesome.

I think he has some sophisticated jump drive that he uses every once in a while to download info from his brain! Then when we ask a question he plugs it in (you can't see it because he don't really need glasses he just wears them to hide his usb port behind his ear! He's like a mountain sports Clark Kent) and he has the answer! If this isn't true I can't explain his knowledge.

 

Oh yeah that notebook he carries around is not a real notebook it is a cushioned case to carry the jump drive and keep it safe!
