October 23, 200916 yr In an attempted promotional roux, everyone's saying the old Shogun is back. I still say it was steroids that made him so good in Pride. I'm taking Machida in this one. What say you?
October 23, 200916 yr Shogun won't make it through the first round. Sure he beat Liddell in his last fight, but he beat a guy who his long past his prime. Until he beats a big time opponent in the UFC, he is still fodder in my eyes. Machida is going to lay it on him...
October 23, 200916 yr Machida over Shogun Rothwell over Velasquez Tibau over Neer Stevenson over Fisher Johnson over Yoshida

October 23, 200916 yr Machida over Shogun Rothwell over Velasquez Tibau over Neer Stevenson over Fisher Johnson over Yoshida That would probably be my picks as well.
October 23, 200916 yr Lyoto Machida Vs. Mauricio Rua - Won't go past the third round, the old Shogun doesn't exist anymore and Machida is way too good. Cain Velasquez Vs. Ben Rothwell - I think the bigger Rothwell will be too much for Cain, much the same way Carwin was; but I like Cain and would like to see him pull it off. Gleison Tibau Vs. Josh Neer - Tibau's got a better skillset and I think it will show. Joe Stevenson Vs. Spencer Fisher - Joe Daddy has something to prove in the LW division and he can't do it against Sanchez and Penn.....so Fisher will get the brunt of that. Anthony Johnson Vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida - "Rumble" will rumble.... Unaired (on the PPV) Prelims: Ryan Bader Vs. Eric Schafer Antoni Hardonk Vs. Pat Barry Yushin Okami Vs. Chael Sonnen Jorge Rivera Vs. Rob Kimmons Anyone's fight - I don't have enough knowledge on either of these fighters...... Kyle Kingsbury Vs. Razak Al-Hassan Stefan Struve Vs. Chase Gormley I'm thrilled that the prelims will be aired on Spike prior to the PPV kicking off, that's cool stuff. Later.

Until he beats a big time opponent in the UFC, he is still fodder in my eyes. Machida is going to lay it on him... He has beaten Alistair Overeem, Rampage Jackson, Chuck Liddell, Rogerio Nogueira, Ricardo Arona, and Kevin Randleman. He was at one point considered to be the best light heavyweight in the world. He will put up a good fight against Machida and I wouldn't be surprised if he wins.
October 24, 200916 yr Author He has beaten Alistair Overeem, Rampage Jackson, Chuck Liddell, Rogerio Nogueira, Ricardo Arona, and Kevin Randleman. He was at one point considered to be the best light heavyweight in the world. He will put up a good fight against Machida and I wouldn't be surprised if he wins. All,while on steroids. Machida will kill him. I believe you are the same cat who said Forrest Griffin would have a heck of shot against Anderson Silva. Not a chance.
October 24, 200916 yr Shogun over Machida - I won't be surprised if either one wins, but I'm going with the upset here. I predict that we see the Shogun of old and he will win via 2nd or 3rd round TKO. Velasquez over Rothwell - I just can't see Rothwell winning this fight. I saw him versus Arlovski and he did not impress me what so ever. If he keeps it standing, he has a chance because I'm not all that confident in Cain's stand up. However I expect that Cain will come in and take him down in each round and GnP his way to a decision victory. Neer over Tibau - I picked Neer in his last fight and he didn't look good at all. I think he comes out and wins this one via unanimous decision. But I won't be surprised if Tibau beats him either. Stevenson over Fisher - I think Stevenson will be motivated for this one and I think he'll win via unanimous decision as well. Johnson over Yoshida - Johnson is an animal and I think he'll KO Yoshida in round 1 or 2. Okami over Sonnen - Okami has great takedowns and ground and pound. He'll win via UD. Bader over Schafer - Bader will take him down and use GnP to win the fight. That's all of my predictions.
October 24, 200916 yr Shogun over Machida - I won't be surprised if either one wins, but I'm going with the upset here. I predict that we see the Shogun of old and he will win via 2nd or 3rd round TKO. This is what I am hoping for. I keep telling myself that the Liddell fight was the first fight Shogun was fully healthy since entering the UFC, after his first bouts were on a bum knee he later got surgery on. The whole steroid thing from Pride is in the back of my mind, but steroids or not a fighter still knows how to fight and still has the same techniques. IMO Rua has as good as chance as any other Light Heavyweight to beat Machida, and I am hoping he does. Also agree with you on Velasquez. There is a reason it took Rothwell ten years to make it into the UFC, and even so probably wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't for Affliction folding. Don't get me wrong he has been fighting good, and was the only undefeated fighter in the IFL, but Cain's ground game is very polished and he has a huge advantage over Ben Rothwell in that department. Only way Rothwell has a chance is if Velasquez lets the fight go standing up and Ben catches him with a KO. Other than that I think it will be tough sledding for him. Big difference in the UFC and other leagues, and its very difficult to win your first fight in the UFC.

He's got about as much of a chance as Forrest Griffin had over Anderson Silva, and I believe you know this.
October 25, 200916 yr Cain Velasquez Vs. Ben Rothwell - I think the bigger Rothwell will be too much for Cain, much the same way Carwin was; but I like Cain and would like to see him pull it off. Brain cramp.....I meant to say.....'much the same way Carwin was with Gonzaga.' Later.
October 25, 200916 yr Author I knew Machida would win. Seriously, in what way possible does any judge justify giving that match to Machida. I was wrong about Shogun, he is back. Or, he's goosed up on steroids again one of the two.

Or, he's goosed up on steroids again one of the two. ESPECIALLY in a unanimous decision. There's a piece of me that could ALMOST see a split decision, but not unanimous. How about Cain Velasquez though? Looked pretty good. Much the same way he did against Kongo. Oh, a mod might wanna change the title to the thread: UFC 104 Predictions/Spoilers. Later.
