Dixie's defense has only struggled 4 times this year, Highlands, Ryle, Simon Kenton, and Conner. I believe quite a few teams defenses have stuggled against those team. I hardly put Cov Cath's offense in those teams catagory.

 

Well, if you just look at the final scoreboard then you're correct.

 

However if you were at the Holmes game you saw Holmes move up and down the field on them. They simply failed to execute once they got into the red zone.

Maybe not, but I personally put it above Dixie's defense. Plus you add the fact that they're going to be fired up coming from the loss to Highlands, and then combined with the fact that Coach Wirth and Coach Ray are working hard to re-assert the Cov Cath tradition of beating Dixie (Cov Cath has won around 30 of the last 35 games against Dixie), I see Cov Cath coming away with the win late in the game.

So by your logic: a team gets walloped one week, so following the loss, they should run off with their tails between their legs and play like they're scared? :idunno:

 

I'm pretty sure from a coaching perspective, you take a big rivalry loss and you work using that to light a fire under your players and to turn it into motivation for your team. I'd even wager to guess that there's probably been a coaching manual or two written that would at least suggest that idea.

 

Regardless, if I were playing football and I lost a game by giving up 500 yards of offense when I only got just over 100 yards of offense myself (you should really check your stats, by the way), I would most definitely be fired up. I'd be ticked off because I A) got beaten as badly as I did, and B) gave other teams the idea that maybe they can pick me apart as badly as Highlands did. I'd be looking to lay the boom on somebody. I don't know, maybe I'm crazy, but yes, after losing big, I'd be fired up and looking to play hard and win big.

Sometimes a loss can really be a slap in the face and you don't have to look any farther than last nights Ryle vs. CovCath Frosh game.

 

The week before Boone County Frosh beat CovCath Frosh like a drum, but then after a week of practice and soul searching the young Colonels came out and beat an undeafted Ryle team in the first round of the Frosh Playoffs.

Unfortunately, it looks like the weather isn't going to be good. So, I guess we can only expect 700 yards and 70 points.

From reading other threads about the Lil Colonels football season there is a common comment about their lack of being able to cover and tackle!
