From the Woodford Sun:Johnson Central ran over Woodford County, rolling up over 600 yards on the ground in a 64-14 win.

It was a pretty balanced attack tonight by the Eagles, with 5 different players scoring TD's. The team appears to be coming around but still has a ways to go. Overall a good win and secures the #1 seed for JC regardless of win or lose against Montgomery Co. and gives JC its 4th straight district title.

Didn't Woodford County actually win the regular season district title in 2007? I think that was the year they came to the Nest and crushed us (when Shawne Lewis was still playing), then they lost to Montgomery County in the playoffs? Regardless, it's at least three district titles in the last four years. Congrats to Coach Matney and the boys! I think this district title may represent his best coaching job yet.

The thing about 2007 was that was the two year period in which the KHSAA rewarded the district title to the teams that won the first two playoff games (which was a dumb rule). So actually Johnson Central won the title that year. The Golden Eagles have four district titles, winning in 2000, 2006, 2007, and 2008.

Yeah, I remember that game very well. But as gchs eluded to, during that 2 year span district titles were awarded following the first 2 rounds of intra-district play.
