Does anybody know if Beechwood will use Cottingham as a pitcher or will he just catch.

 

Is this the Cottingham who was going to Highlands or Campbell then went to CovCath and now he is at Beechwood?:idunno::ohbrother:

Cottingham never attend Highlands or Campbell High school but he did attend Covcath his first two years,but tranfer to Beechwood do to being told he was beat out by the freshman.Covcath never give him a chance to pitch.

Wow, quite a change in rankings over the past week or so. :confused: Conner seems to have gotten much, much better over the past few days, CCH improved quite a bit, and Boone's team got much weaker.

 

I don't think there's any question that going into the season that 3 of the top 5 teams will come from the 33rd (Ryle, Conner, Boone, and I also think Cooper will be much improved). Dixie's staff makes them very tough, but the region tournament schedule negates some of that advantage since everyone will be able to rely on their #1 and #2 pitchers. I see no reason to be ranking CCH very high at this point. They have very little hitting returning and decent, but not special and somewhat unproven, pitching. A #3 preseason ranking for them is way too high.

Is Roenker (sp?) going to play this year? If so will he pitch or be a position player? I know he has been troubled by a bad shoulder. I heard he had surgery. True or False. Hope he is OK.

Yes he had surgery and he will pitch this year. Maybe not in the beginning but by districts yes and ALL A yes from what I know.

Who will be their leading hitters?

 

No doubt they've got a lot of hits and RBI's that won't be replaced, since

they averaged almost 9 runs per game last year; however, they do have some kids that know what to do with a bat and have had success.

 

Siemer batted second, but should be the sparkplug leading off this year; he has speed, was #2 in the region in runs scored (behind Maile), and hit in the high 300's all year . Martin started most games in the OF, hit about .330 and can hit the ball to the gaps. Schlegbaum and Stayton shared the DH role, they both also hit pretty well. Schlegbaum's avg. was in the high 300's most of the year. Klein hit around .400 two years ago (was ill last year), and will probably bat 3rd or 5th I believe big Ben Maile will bat clean up, and may give them some serious power. He had a lot of HR's in summer ball, and is really working into shape with off-season conditioning. Lankheit may start at catching and was a nice line drive hitter at the JV level.

I forgot some teams and learned som things about some teams so thats why my rankings changed some.

 

Who knows though. We all know how much other people have their opinions heard up at CCH.

Shumate and Arnzen pitched for the Kentucky Colonels' 16 year old team last summer. The Colonels' 16 year old team had a very good season last summer (even by Colonels' standards), and had a very good pitching rotation (featuring several Northern Kentuckians who you should hear a lot from this high school baseball season). That pitching staff performed well for the Colonels in some very prestigous national tournaments. Arnzen will again play for them this year and Shumate will play for the Kentucky Colonels' 18 year old team. I know the Colonels are very high on both of them, particularily Shumate, who has really increased his velocity (although he was already throwing hard last high school season), and who has developed a very good curveball.

I know that Jake Cain pithced but hurt his arm later in the season, Jackson Lauman also pitched. The other pithcer that did well was Tyler Hill, I think he is at Ryle and Jordan Liechty from Conner did well. I would definitely watch Hill, Liechty, Lauman and Cain.

Jake Cain has a chance , if healthy, to be a dominant high school pitcher by the time he's finished.

Vance Sullivan, a lefty from Walton-Verona and Jacob Zerhusen from St. Henry also pitched well for that team. Tyler Jones, from Rising Sun H.S. also pitched well. Lots of good arms.

Jackson Launmann is a great pitcher and a great young man. Should be a dominant pitcher for Boone this year.

Will he be their #1 or Deno? I like the way Deno pitches. Nothing overpowering, but he's a fine example of why you don't need to have a blazing fastball to be successful.
